lori18 (1018.4 days ago) your baby should be off his or her passy and bottle b y the age of one for teeth reasions
eileenmae (1018.5 days ago) I would say around 8 months it switched to just a bed time thing...but it lasted until about 2 years old....
ms m (1018.5 days ago) Thank you mums for your comments...after reading I am not too concerned now about my little one having a dummy after the age of 6 months.
AubreyP (1018.6 days ago) My daughter just gave it up on her own around 8 mos. She refused to take it anymore. That was great...
Lilmissesmum- (1018.6 days ago) My little girl still has hers I was going to take it off of her by a year old but I changed my mind and decided that she can have it for sleeps only for another few months but I am determined to have it gone by the end of this year.
.punky. (1018.9 days ago) My 12 month old still uses hers but ONLY at night. I will probably take it away at 18 months if I feel she is ready, but since it is only at night, I`m not real concerned about her having it. RobinG, thank you for sharing that, I`m sure many of us will think twice before giving looks to other moms. You really never do know someone else`s situation, we shouldn`t be so quick to judge.
RobinG (1018.9 days ago) One thing I`ve learned is to never pass judgment on someone who has a paci or bottle long after one thinks it is ok. I care for a little 4 year old who has Velo Cardio Facial Syndrome. He shouldnt have lived longer than 9 months. He is a miracle boy :) He cant speak, has had heart/lung surgeries, was formula fed for two years and many other things. He gets therapy daily. He needed a paci til he was almost 4. He looks completely normal. You`d never know he shouldnt be here. His medical problems are all internal. That poor mom must have felt so bad to have other moms look at her son thinking he looked ridiculous when they didnt know he medically needed it. My youngest has Autism, very mild and is hypo autistic versus the more common hyper. He is 18 months and still has to use a bottle often because of his complications with oral dyspraxia that we are working on. I get SO mad when I get looks from other moms all the time because of it. I want to yell and say you have no idea what we are going through... he needs it, this isnt just bad parenting. Best to never assume and pass judgement on anyone when you see something that doesnt look like good parenting cause ya never.
marli (1018.9 days ago) Gavin is 17 months and still has one, but he`s only allowed to have it for his nap and bedtime. I plan on taking it away at 2. I also agree with RobinG, not all children run around with binks 24/7.
onesharpefamily (1018.9 days ago) Strangely my daughter just stopped using it one day. I can`t remember exactly when but I remember she still used it at 5 mths, so I think it was right after 6 mths she just stopped taking it.
RobinG (1018.9 days ago) Humm my older two had them and had no speech delays what so ever and didnt look rediculous since they didnt have them `just cause` they had them for sleep and calming when upset. And their teeth are perfect :) Not all kids who have them over a year old have them all the time. I do agree they shouldnt be in their mouth when they are fine/happy and playing and talking. But not all who do have them allow that ~ I didnt ~
T3POandR2D2 (1018.9 days ago) Since I don`t believe in `scheduling` or `training` my baby I let him decide when he is done with it. Pretty much everything I do is on demand.
harimaudahan (1019 days ago) I took Sarah`s away just under a year old.
RobinG (1019 days ago) I believe in them having them til 18 months ~ I see no reason to take it away prior to that, esp when it is comforting to them and does no harm unless they have them beyond 18 months.
