dollhouse (1007.4 days ago) That`s what I like about WIC, you have to get certain things with it. You can`t go out and buy a bunch of junk. We don`t qualify or need assistance, but I have family members who do. It drives me crazy the way they will spend their food stamps on things that aren`t necessities. EditDelete
hillaryandmikesbaby (1008.6 days ago) talk about playing the system.. i live in southern new jersey and im not sure if people have heard of Camden but its been voted most dangerous city in the US a few times.. people there could write a book on playing the system. They drive the nice ass cars where nice ass clothes and have everything paid for and will be comfortable living off the system as long as possible.. sometimes i feel some of it almost isnt their fault because they were raised to live like that from previous generations but its like wouldnt you want to better yourself and get out of that area? also many of which who are playing the system are big time drug dealers.. its crazy.. i mean not everyone there is a drug dealer thats not what im saying but it most deff is the majority.. if you need the assistance thats fine but you are supposed to try and find another way to support your familly and get off of it... thebigtomato (1008.6 days ago) I don`t qualify, but both my best friend and my sis get assistance in the form of WIC, food stamps, and Medicaid. EditDelete
happyforest (1008.6 days ago) we get WIC. we were both college students when i got pregnant, so now i am taking a `break` from school to stay home with my son, even though i hope to go back this fall. my bf is a full time student AND works 30-40 hours a week delivering pizza. he makes about $400 a week. we both live off that and our rent is $500 so we have $1100 for food and bills and gas and everything else. we do both have nice cars and cell phones bc our parents bought our cars while we still lived at home and they still pay our cell phones. but we do need WIC bc we are living paycheck to paycheck and barely make it!!! EditDelete
Aiona (1008.7 days ago) What`s more sad to me, is I see families who have started their own businesses, and no longer qualify for Medicaid (they make too much), but they don`t yet make enough for CHIP. So they fall inbetween the cracks. If their business fails, they`re back to Medicaid. So much for trying! EditDelete
armymom (1009 days ago) i get unemployment... we don`t qualify for WIC unfortunately! not fair! EditDelete
sadielady (1009 days ago) oh and she sells more than half of her foodstamps. EditDelete
sadielady (1009 days ago) people really do screw the system. a friend of mine is getting $750 in cash aid and $450 in food stamps. and shes living with her boyfriend and he makes good money. she lied and said hes her roommate.ughh it really makes me mad. shes not in school or trying to get anywhere in life. im a real life single mom struggling so hard to make ends meet and actually trying to better myself so i dont have to be on welfare forever and she gets more than i do?? it really is crap. they want you rock bottom and lying before theyll really help you. EditDelete
Aiona (1009 days ago) People definitely have found ways to get around the system. I never qualify for any assistance, but I see people who have WIC and Medicare who drive up to my office in more expensive cars than mine, while talking on their really expensive cellphones. Another person who works at our office was on foodstamps, and she often bought birthday cake and ice cream for our office parties with her food stamps. I kept wondering, `Doesn`t she need that for actual food?` EditDelete
ibaheir2dathrone (1009 days ago) We are on wic and get foodstamps. There are 5 of us on one income. I didn`t want to but we really needed to. His hrs. were cut. I am so surprised how folks can lie and manipulate the system! we started at 154 bucks worth. Now get 200. A SINGLE (no kids no man nothing like that) gets over 200. Another single female with one kid gets 400 something. How unfair is that? (btw the single mom at the time she applied worked part time and made as much as my hubby did working a FULL 40 hrs!!) How unfair is that!?! We don`t plan on being on here long. We just want to get back on our feet!

sadielady (1009.1 days ago) i am a newly single mom. and me and my kids are on medi-cal.we get wic and cash aid. but no food stamps. because i live with my mom i dont qualify. just for the record i am in school full time and looking for work like crazy no luck so i am using the help for now. . and it is such a relief let me tell you! EditDelete
Bvartanian88 (1009.1 days ago) The baby and I also have medicaid and wic. And Wic didn`t even look at our application to see our income. Just gave us a card. Weird. EditDelete
hillaryandmikesbaby (1009.1 days ago) i just got my wic checks yesterday.. i qualified because i was layed off in january and only made 23,000 last year.. im not married either so my bf`s income isnt included.. people keep telling me to try welfare and what not but I want to try my hardest not to do so. I think if a familly is really in need of it and cannot possible work then go for it.. As of right now i just work under the table 4 hours a day at an icecream shop. I dont want to much on me since i miscarried before and i have bipolar disorder.. not an excuse but it does affect my working. for some who dont know what its like.. like.. i guess i cant control when i get upset and i just fall apart.. something i never want to show my child, i dont want them to have any learned behavior from that of me. also with bi polar its a fancy term for manic depressive.. it sucks but I believe in my heart I will be able to controll it but you never know... so far this pregnancy i have been pretty happy.. only depressed over not feeling desirable to my bf... EditDelete
Bvartanian88 (1009.1 days ago) It was a hassle to get our bridge card... We are surviving right now on one income. And it`s only VA benefits because I was pregnant and my husband was going to school full time. He was working part time too, but they wouldn`t give him any time off to go to school so he had to quit. We went down to the dhs and they gave us a hard time, yet people who didn`t speak english and couldn`t read their bills were coming in and the lady said the government would pay them. I couldn`t believe it. And I too saw people that had expensive cars and such coming in and getting their cash and food assistance. Unbelievable. EditDelete
hannahe (1009.1 days ago) i dont qualify for wic based on my income but somehow we qualify for medi-cal, and if you have medi-cal you automatically get wic...at least thats what i was told and they give me wic EditDelete
ermsmom (1009.1 days ago) I used to work for a housing authority and people definitely know how to work the system. That`s why you see people in expensive cars with all of the latest gadgets still qualifying for this stuff. It`s not everyone of course but those that do give everyone else a bad name. EditDelete
onesharpefamily (1009.2 days ago) WIC is a sore spot for me right now. When my husband and I were both Active Duty military we didn`t qualify by $50/mth or we made $750 a year too much. When I found out I was pregnant when we down thinking a family household of 4 and only 1 income now (he just finished his enlistment in January) we`d qualify. Nope. I was pretty pissed off. As we make WAY LESS money now than we did. EditDelete
