The dr kept saying he is fine, but we weren`t satisfied until we took him to a pediatric endocrinologist. He said as long as he is consistently growing, even if that means consistent 3rd percentile, he is fine. Kids don`t starve themselves and they will eat what they need. He said just to be sure to offer healthy foods, but I didn`t need to obsess or worry anymore. With Ethan, he`ll likely be the smaller kid and be a late bloomer. But there is nothing wrong with him. Somebody has to be in the 3rd percentile anyway. My son fell off the charts- but he is consistently growing and gaining weight- he`s just small. My second son is the opposite.

I see your son was very small at birth so it might take him a while to gain momentum on his weight. My son was 6lb 1oz at birth but he struggled to feed and at 3 months was still only doing about 2-3oz every 4 hours in then end in 3 weeks he had stopped gaining weight, but he was very sick as well and was prescribed special milk for reflux. But I knew deep down he was not right and was under the docter with him every week for it. So as long as your gut says things are fine, just your instincts. If you are ever worried chart his feeds, wet/soiled nappies, sleep and temprement then see your doc. But again I am sure everything is fine x
Carolinagirls (1004 days ago) I saw you talking about this on the 2 month baby month to month conversation. i wouldn`t worry. My baby had her 2 month check up and her head circumference is in the 2%!!! NOW who do you think should be worried?? Haha!! My baby has no room for stupid in her little brain!! JK! Sounds like your baby is doing just fine. Give it a couple of weeks and I`m sure he will be fine. I`m not worried about my baby`s peanut head! Awww.....
luvbeingamom (1004.2 days ago) When they say every baby is different `they` mean it. My older son was always off the charts when it came to weight and height. he was 30 lbs under a year. My younger son was barely 20. The clothes my first son wore at 9 -12 months, my 18 month old is just wearing now. it is crazy. My younger one has been at or under the 20th percentile since birth. My older son at now 4 is still in the 98th or above percentile. I look at it as, if they are healthy and happy, it is fine. They are growing, putting on weight, satisfied when they are done eating, it will be ok. I am sure sooner or later they will all basically catch up anyways. Good Luck.
