soon2be3 (1004 days ago) I have had the mirena twice and I would say the insertion causes slight pain (similiar to a pap, but a little more intense for a few seconds). I would take Motrin or something similiar about an hour before you go in. I always had cramping for a bit afterwards...couple hours. The cramping isn`t so bad if you take a Motrin though. With my first, I spotted off and on for about 6 weeks. With my second, I had it inserted 5 weeks pp. and was still spotting from my pregnacy. It wasn`t bad. I never had a real period with it in...spotting for about 2-3 days each month. LOVE IT! EditDelete
pc (1004 days ago) I actually got mine on Friday. From my research and poll responses I was a little wiery, but it turned out just fine. The insertion did not hurt at all. The most uncomfortable part was when they insert the metal clap to open you (sorry tmi, and I don`t recall the actual name of the thing). The whole process took no longer than 5 minutes. I had very mild cramping on/off for the next two hours. I have had very light spotting since Friday. So far, I am pleased. EditDelete
sadielady (1004 days ago) the actual insertion doesnt really hurt. its uncomfortable. but you will probably be really crampy for a couple hours afterwards. maybe the whole day? i wasnt on my period either and it was fine. good luck! hope it works for you :) EditDelete
chanelle (1004 days ago) I had no pain with mith mine it was like a pap. You may have a bit of cramping but nothing bad at least for me. I was not on my period when I had mine done they never told me it would be easier so I would not worry about that. EditDelete
