njstewy (999.3 days ago) My daughter had this also a few months back when she was like 7mo all they did afterwards was an ultrasound to check her bladder and kidneys to make sure they were functioning right
adriana03 (1000.3 days ago) Kiara and mamabears answers are better than mine lol but I was reffering to the same thing. I opted for her not to be catheterized because like kiara said they do outgrow it so i didnt want her to be in that pain for something to go away on its own. Talk to your doctor and see what he advises.
kiara (1000.4 days ago) My daughter had to go to Children`s Hospital for further testing to see if she had bladder reflux. They did an ultrasound where they put dye into her bladder thru a catheter and then watched the scan to see if the dye backed up toward her kidneys. She does have bladder reflux, which causes frequent UTI`s. On a scale of 1-5, she was a 2. They said 1`s and 2`s usually outgrow the reflux after a few years, and 4`s and 5`s usually require surgery. She had the testing done a year ago in May, and I`m supposed to bring her back this coming fall for another test to see if the reflux went away. In the mean time, she needs to take a low dose antibiotic every day to prevent new UTI`s.
AubreyP (1000.4 days ago) yes urine sample and they said to continue her on the meds they gave her b/c it should work fine. I don't want to put her through a ton of testing if I don't have to. She is already terrified of doctors!!
.punky. (1000.4 days ago) Did they take a urine sample from her when they made the diagnosis?
.punky. (1000.4 days ago) Then I would say that if that is what they are referring to you could opt to not do any testing. Especially if you have to pay for it! The only other thing I can think of it being is when they put my dd on antibiotics they called me a day later and said that the type of bacteria was not responding to the meds and they had to change them...but they would have told you that right away. But IMO it`s just a UTI, pretty everyday stuff~unless it becomes more than that but at 2 1/2 and this is her first one it was prob just a fluke thing...
AubreyP (1000.4 days ago) this is her 1st uti - she is 2 and a half
.punky. (1000.4 days ago) When my dd had a UTI they said that sometimes there is a problem with the opening and closing of a valve that leads to the bladder (or something like that, my memory is a bit foggy on the details) and it can be fixed with a simple surgery. BUT the doc said we would only have to check for that if she got the UTI`s frequently, or if she were a boy. He said a first time/one time UTI in a female can be completely normal and not cause for further investigation. Has your daughter had multiple UTI`s? Good luck!
Bvartanian88 (1000.4 days ago) I used to have UTI all the time. Literally. But I have never have futher testing. They give me a script for keflex and I feel better in 2 days or so and completely back to normal in about a week.
adriana03 (1000.5 days ago) it would probably be an ultrasound or use a catheter just to check if her system is all good. They might give her a liquid to see if her urine stays in or all comes out. My daughter had to do that. but every doc is different.
