courtenay`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll BF mommies or anyone with suggestions - we got through the biting before teeth (thankfully) but now my daughter is pinching me. She is 7.5 months and will pinch the backs or fronts of my arms, my boobs, basically anything she can get her hands on no matter what position we use. How can i discourage this habit because it HURTS!!!

My daughter never pinched but how my sister got her boys to stop was by pinching them back.. not hard of course just enough to let them know that it hurts and also teaches them that `do unto others` thing too. soon they learned that if they didnt want it done to them they would have to stop doing it to other people

I always wear a nursing necklace.. I think There is a pic of mine in my blog somewhere.. its a jingle ball and Kara LOVES to make it jingle while she nurses.

I made a nursing necklace, and put that in her hand if she pinches. She gnaws on it when she`s teething too. She notices if I forget to put in on, and paws at my collarbone where she`s used to finding it. :-p (Oh, and making my own was less than $10, it looks like something I`d actually want to wear, and I chose a stone that my daughter was really drawn to holding + touching.)

Same as the other people. Give her something to hold while she`s nursing.

My guy is getting a bit crazy, too! He`s 11 months, and I think part of it, is because he`s ready for the sippy! He loves his sippy, but we still nurse in the mornings/evenings. Sometimes I pull my shirt down so he can`t get to my skin! :-) Sometimes I hold his hand... he gets too distracted if there`s something to play with, he`d rather play! Sorry... I`m probably not too helpful!

I have a nursing necklace that christinaswar suggested. http://www.mommynecklaces.com/nursingnecklaces.html This is the one that I ended up buying. I haven`t given birth yet but my husband likes to fiddle around with it, and if it keeps him occupied, it should keep the baby occupied.

i have never heard of a nursing necklace but now im going to go looking. if i give her a toy she just chucks it on the ground, sometimes im lucky and she just plays with the straps of my bra or shirt but basically when shes nursing she wants to touch me and only me...

Same problem here but now she`s almost one. Have you tried a nursing necklace or giving her a lovey to fiddle with while nursing?

ouch! I have a hair puller even though I`m bottle feeding now... he loves pulling my hair and trying to stuff it in his mouth while he`s taking his bottle. lol. It hurts too. Garrett has a favorite blanket and sometimes he`ll rub that on his cheeks instead of my hair... have you tried those nursing bead necklaces or giving her a toy to hold while she`s nursing? Maybe try wearing a zip up jacket while you nurse so theres less exposed skin.

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
