Holly28`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll I am asking this for a friend of mine who`s daughter is 18 months old. A week ago, she thought she had the stomach flu because she started vomiting and was sick numerous times, was lathargic and whiney and had diarrhea over the course that day. However, a week later she has no other symptoms but is still throwing up and has been fussing at meals times; not wanting to eat. Other than this, she has no fever, has good energy,is sleeping well and is generally in good spirits. She will be fine all day, having eaten a number of times and then all of a sudden in the middle of a meal or immediately after eating will suddenly vomit violently. My friend took her to the Dr and he had NO idea what is going on and the whole visit was really quite useless. Has anyone else experienced something like this? If so what did it turn out to be.

Her stomach still might be sensitive from the virus and she may be eating too much in one sitting causing her to throw up or maybe a certain type of food is triggering. Also since she is eating all day then throwing up it could be a problem with her not digesting the food right. If it were my child I would have him eat less in one sitting but more throughout the day to give time for the food to digest without overwhelming her system. Plus give foods that are easier to digest and stay away from meats and stuff. If that doesn`t help then she might have a problem with her digestive track that may need more tests. Hope this helps.

My 19 month old just went through something similar. He had almost 2 weeks of diarrhea and a few days of vomiting. We went to the doc for it and they said, most likely it is a virus. Virus`s can last anywhere from 24 hours to 3 weeks, don`t always cause a fever and can seem somewhat random. What the doc did have us do is evaluate his diet, make sure we haven`t added a new food. So that we could be sure it wasn`t a food allergy. Good Luck to your friend.

Wow, that is the downside of government health care. My doctors would see him regularly until they figured it out!! I will cross my fingers and say a prayer for your friend. Hope the baby feels better quickly!!

Not sure of whats going on, but my daugter used to do this around this age at bedtime. I would get her out of her crib, give her a bath, and snuggle with her on the sofa... this kept going on for a long time. She would be fine during the day, but bam just like that throwing up all over her bedding in the crib. Took her to the DR and told him about what had been going on, and he had me try something. The next time she did it, i was to giver her a bath, get her in clean jammies, and put clean bedding in her crib, and put her back to bed... it only took me a couple of nights before it stopped. the DR was right, he had a feeling it was an attention issue... she had learned that it was keeping her up later, and so she continued to do it... like i said, i dont know whats going on in your friends house, but maybe something is new or changed, and this is her way of getting some extra attention? Just a thought...

  1. ANGRY!!!! My jenakers account is missing my ENTIRE journal from my high risk pregnancy and my letthisonestick account for my 7 month old is completely gone along with my journal. I AM SICK OVER IT!
  2. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  3. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  4. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  5. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  6. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  7. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  8. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  9. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  10. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
