missyv28 (pink) (991 days ago) No way I chain my kid like a dog. There are times that it might be easier and in no way is my child is perfect but I couldn`t put my poor son on a leash. I rather take the time and teach him to stay with us and hold our hand then do that. I don`t put shopping and looking at items at the store before my child. I am always attentive to where he is and if I need to go shopping where I need my attention on shopping then he won`t come or he will be strapped in a stroller or a cart no matter how upset he gets. I don`t judge ppl who do it and I won`t give ppl dirty looks that are doing it but to me if I were doing it the only thing that would go through my head the whole time is I`m treating my son like a dog. happyforest (991 days ago) my opinion is better safe than sorry! how can someone be `against` something that is made to keep their child safe! i would rather look silly than have a lost child. it can only take one second or a slip of the hand and they are gone EditDelete
My5Babies:) (991.7 days ago) I have 4 children..having them in the cart, `touching the dirty cart` or `irresponsibly stuffing them in a stroller` is so much easier for ALL of us. There is no way while I am out grocery shopping that I could hold kids on a leash and be getting groceries all at the same time. Yes, I use a carrier and/or stroller for convenience purposes. Like I said...I have 4 children and I need to know that they are close to me and within arm`s reach at all times. EditDelete
sleepymomma (991.7 days ago) We have one for Daisy, but use it very rarely, in certain situations. That may change after I have this baby and it may be used more often. She hates being in her stroller now and scream bloody murder because she wants to walk. In crowded places, I will hold her hand and have the harness on her, just to be extra safe. I don`t see much of a differenace between using the harness and using a baby gate, they are all things that can be used to help us keep our kids safe. All it takes is a split second when our attention is divided for them to tumble down the stairs or get lost. EditDelete
RobinG (991.8 days ago) Never assume someone is lazy for using one ~ EditDelete
AubreyP (991.8 days ago) It`s not about laziness!!! My daughter went through a period where she absolutly didn`t want to ride in the stroller and only wanted to walk....but she didn`t want to hold my hand. It gave her a little freedom and I was still able to get something done when shopping. I would much rather that then my child lost! She is 2 and a half now and doesn`t need it any more. EditDelete
My5Babies:) (991.8 days ago) With my children,we taught them at an early age how to hold hands and hold the cart and if you let go there are consequences. Now it is automatic for them to hold hands/cart when we are out. My 2 year old has seen my older two doing this since she was very little so she does very well. She either has to sit in the cart/stroller or hold on to it while walking. I carry my 10 month old in a carrier or she sits in the cart/stroller. She can walk very well and she will throw little temper tantrums to get out by the others, but I absolutely dont` allow it. She will stop her tantrum after a few minutes and focus on a book or a toy instead. EditDelete
mdbabyno1 (991.8 days ago) I agree with nmck and Austin and Alexs 100%!!! I`m sure I`ll be getting one when she is a little older. Rather safe than sorry. EditDelete
armymom (991.8 days ago) Like you I feel they are not neccessary when a parent needs a leash for her ONE child. now when I see 2 or more young children it doesn`t bother me but I just can`t understand why someone needs a leash for only one. BUT then again I`ve done alot of things I never thought I would do as a mom so I can`t really say how I`ll feel when my son is that age. Just wanted to give you an outsiders opinion who doesn`t have children or only a very young baby.. I`m sure other moms of older children wouldn`t think twice. I`ll probably have to eat my words when my son reaches that age and runs from me. Do what you gotta do! lol EditDelete
