Pregnancy-poll poll This question is for mothers who have had 2 or more pregnancies & if you had one natural childbirth compared to having an epidural. If you`ve had both I would love to hear your stories, and what you recommend. I am just about to have my second child, and i was asked to get an epidural at 8cm dialated due to extremely high blood pressure. If you have any tips on having a natural, or what u suggest. Thanks!

I have had three natural child births, no epidural at all. I will not have an epi with baby number four either. My shortest labour (baby number two) was 4 hours. My first labour was over 47 hours and my third labour was over 30 hours. YES, it is the most painful thing you will ever experience. I do hope this last baby will not be no thirty hours but I don`t want him/her to come so quickly that I don`t have time to be prepared either. I had just turned 17 when I had my first. Each labour was different yes, but with each labour I mentally prepared myself for the full nine months to go without any pain medicine. It is all focus and determination. I would not have it any other way. My philosophy was/is: if women could go squat in bushes back in the `olden` days and give birth with no meds, there is NO reason why I can`t do the same thing on a nice comfy bed lol. I think, having a baby naturally, really adds to the whole experience. I enjoyed every minute of every hour of each of my labours.

I didn`t get an epidural with my first child because my labor happened too fast and they kept telling me that since it was my first child, my labor would be long and that I was over exaggerating my pain. When they finally checked me, the baby was crowing and there was no time for an epidural. (needless to say, I was sort of pissed). The pain...unbelievable. The stress was pretty bad too. With my second, I made sure the anesthesiologist was waiting for me at the door and I got one. Now..it didn`t take the pain away completely. They can adjust it so you can push when it`s time or allow you to feel some pain so you can push affectively. I LOVED giving birth with the epidural. It was much more calming, even though it happened fairly quickly. The key is that the anesthesiologist really has to get the epi in correctly. I`ve heard of those who say that doing it the natural way kept them more focused or that they were in tune with their bodies..but I completely disagree. There is no way I`d do it without anesthesia unless I had to

i had an epidural with my first and even tho it only worked on one side (it didnt have enough time as i started to push 5 min after i received it)it was really nice to have it, especially since i didnt know how long i would have to wait or how long i would have to push. with my second i was already delivering when i got to the hospital so needless to say i didnt have an epi. but it was so fast from the moment i woke up to the time i held her was less than an hour (THANK GOD) i have a really high pain tolerance as well so it really wasnt horrible but ikept thinking `what if this had taken hours!?` i plan on having another epidural with this one for sure. it just took the edge off the pain and i was able to realax and enjoy the pushing plus i tore really badly another reason i was thankful i coulnt feel everything.

Hello, Iam 27 years old I have 3 beautiful children my first and 2nd born both girls... I had an epi. my last child my son I dod not have an epi I had natural no pain meds nothing there was no time he came so fast! I wish I would have done my girls natural to I was always so scared of the pain but honestly it hurt but not as bad as I thought it would for me I loved not having an epi this last birth I could feel every contraction and knew when to push myself as to with the epi with my girls I was numb from the waste down and could not feel a contraction or when to push I had to be told to push. If I could do it all over again I would go natural for all three of my kiddos but Iam glad I was able to experience at least 1 natural birth

i had a epidural with my first 2 children and i have just gave birth to my third child without. I wanted the epi again with my third but they said it was too late as i was very close to delivering when i went into hospital. I was so frightend doing it without as i`d said all the way through my pregnancy that i wanted to have it. Anyway if i had the choice id rather do it with the epidural as i didnt enjoy my third baby being born one little bit

My first I was induced, and had stadol as well as epi. I had lots of complications, but overall a `perfect` epidural... it was wearing off during pushing. With my second I labored at home (which I would have it no other way!) and we got the hospital just in time to push. I was totally fine up until the pushing phase (but then again she was posterior) it was hell, but I`m glad I had both experiences. IF we have another one, I would want to labor at home, but get to the hospital in time for an epi. If you have a good one, you don`t really miss out on any part of the experience. =) Good luck girl!

I had an epi with my first one and nothing with the last 3. I loved my natural births much more than my first one. The epi needle was crooked in my back, so I was completly numb on one side and not the other. It was a bad experience. With my natural births, I knew when to push and how to push. My last baby was my best experience. You can read about it in her birth story. I would never have any sort of pain relief again. I was so much more in tune with my body.

OMG, I posted on FB (in reponse to a suggestion made to me on From Our House To Yours) that I didn`t like a business because the items were very expensive and my friend got a bad deal there and the owner is threatening to sue me! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I actually paid a consultation fee and my lawyer told me that she was `absurd with possible mental health problems.` I am protected by the fisrt ammendment to express my honest opinions freely where I choose, but he said she can take it to court(because people can TRY to sue over anything) anyway and that it might cost me legal bills. We will both be out a lot of money because she couldn`t possibly win. Can you believe that? FML! First my records and now this! I hope my baby isn`t a bad luck baby.
