3blessings`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll If you could most likely induce yourself at 36 weeks just by walking around for a little bit would you do it??? I`m 4 cm dilated and I know if I get up and walk around I`ll have this baby...but I think it`s a little too soon, although doctors said the baby looks great

o yeah and i was 4 cm dialated from 36 weeks and STILL didn`t go into labor till 39 weeks 5 days...and i walked and walked:)

LailasMommy (989.2 days ago)
u can walk all you want but it might not happen as soon as you want i walked literally every other day my whole pregnancy and laila came the day before her due date:) but i would wait to try naturally inducing till at LEAST 37 weeks i really wouldn`t risk it now....but truthfully i`m glad i went into labor on my own it`s great....and i`m sorry to say this cus i know i HATED hearing this when i was 36 weeks and anxious as hell...but that baby will come on it`s OWN time:)good luck!!!

I just spoke with a friend of mine who is the head of respiratory therapy at a children`s hospital with a NICU bc it is looking like I may have to have my baby at 36 wks and he said a 36 wkr is just like a full term baby... generally. Yes, they may have to have supplemental oxygen but the odds are the same of a full term baby and that no newborn even if carried to the due date has fully developed alveoli in their lungs. If it was me, I would act and function as normal and if the baby came at that point, then so be it.

terise (990.5 days ago)
I`d be very tempted, I cant really say If i`d do it or not unless I was in your situation. I think I`d try to wait it out just one more week to be safe. I`m 37 weeks today and if I could bring on labor by walking I`d be doing it!

sleepymomma (990.6 days ago)
Babies aren`t considered full term until 37 weeeks. And the date of conception or due date can be off

hotpotaaaaato (990.6 days ago)
Personally, I would wait until (if) you hit 37 weeks. Then go for it!! But, just to add... with my second baby I was 4cm on my due date (contracting when standing) and I was trying EVERYTHING to get that baby to come out... it took 4 more days! So really, who knows. Good luck!

I dont think she meant to be mean, hurtful or a know it all ~ esp since most babies born are there 2 days. I have 27 plus nieces and nephews and not one of them left before 48 hours, even full term and healthy. Although some do opt to leave after 24 hours her promise isnt that all from reality anyhow since many choose to wait 48 hours anyhow. Saying promise may have been an overstatement and she could have said there is a chance versus `promise`. She was just trying to share and be helpful, just like you and all of us. Its very easy for all of us to read into things when we arent in person ~ ((hugs))

cutelilmama (990.7 days ago)
OK BEERRR... dont listen to her, and dont make promises if u dont know what ur talking about, just because it happened to u does NOT mean it happens to every1.. I had my son at 35 weeks and he was perfectly healthy..thank god : ) Im sorry to hear that ur baby had to spend longer time in the hospital.. but dont tell someone that if she has it now shes goin to spend longer than 48hrs there.. i am now preggo w/ my second and have made it to 36 weeks now, which i am proud of : ) But during the past three days I have felt like I am going to go into labor and day now...SAme with me if im laying down, nothing really, but if im up walking around, or playing w/ my son I literally feel like im going to go into labor..

3blessings (990.7 days ago)
Thanks for all of your input! This is exactly what I needed to hear. My only problem now is what should I do about my 14 month old since I`m pretty much a SAHM!!!! I shouldn`t be moving around a lot but I have to chase her! Maybe I could get my sister to watch her. My hubby can`t take vacation because there are no spots available until Sept to take vacation...and he can`t just call off sick until I have the baby...uhhh this sucks!!!! I wish I didn`t even have this problem!!!

I wouldn`t try anything because if your baby is going to come out then it will without any help. If you try to induce then you risk chances of complications but if your babys comes on their own the risk is much less lower...you know, as low as you can get a 36 weeks.

I had a premature baby who spent 5 weeks in the NICU. While there, we met many parents of babies born at 35, 36, even 37 weeks also in the NICU. My son has been healthy compared to other preemies (he was born at 30 weeks) but we have many lingering issues. He has physical therapy once a week to help make up for the delay of developing outside of the womb. He had to have RSV shots all winter. He has asthma, and is having eye surgery in a couple of weeks for strabismus. Yes, he may have had some of these issues if born full term, but his prematurity made it much more likely. The baby in the bed next to him for the first week was born at 36 weeks, and had trouble sucking/swallowing/breathing all at the same time for feedings. Try to rest for a couple more weeks!!

It really depends ~ every baby is different. Being healthy and surviving doesnt always mean there will not be some concerns down the road. I know many who`ve had babies at 36 weeks and theyve done wonderfully BUT I also know 5 babies in my person life born early. 4 at 36-37 weeks and one at 35 weeks and all off them had RVS as babies, 2 struggle in school that docs said it attributed to being born early and 4 have asthma. 3 are sick all the time with colds and allergies/lung related stuff. 3 cough all the time and are constantly sick. All were born `healthy` and given a clean bill of health. Will your baby survive :) Most likley yes but there is always a chance a lung issue could arise downthe road. Not all babies have concerns so please dont read htis to mean it WILL happen but the longer in there the better I say to reduce such risks ~ big hugs, I hate to say it like this but I know you want an honest answer :) hugs ~

I would wait til 37-38 wks, I think 36 is still a little too soon

busymommyof3 (990.8 days ago)

jessberr31 (990.8 days ago)
Oh, I forgot to add that I also had my oldest boy at 38weeks, and 2 at 39 weeks. All were perfect! My DD was the smallest at 6lbs3oz and the boys were 7lbs4oz, 8lbs4oz, and 7lbs12oz. And they also say that girls lungs mature a lil faster than boys` do.

jessberr31 (990.8 days ago)
I had my daughter in my 36th week and she was fine. I guess it depends on how much more you can take of being big and preggo. But remember, that preggo belly turns into a crying, hungry, pooping baby! LOL!

armymom (990.8 days ago)
no don`t try to induce yourself that early. It`s always best for the baby to stay inside as long as possible. I was trying everything I knew to do to go into labor starting at 37 weeks but I still went 4 days overdue and looking back.. even though you are considered full term by 37 weeks babies that young can still come out with underdeveloped lungs and may need that extra medical attention. I`m glad things worked out the way they did with my son and I got to hold him and be with him as soon as he was born. He was 9.1 lbs and was VERY healthy looking. lol. I hear my mommy friends talking about how they didn`t get to hold their LO`s until day 3 or so on because they were taken away to the NICU for breathing tubes, etc.. that would have made me so sad to see my little boy hooked up to anything. Be patient mama and let the baby come when he/she is ready. Your baby and your body know when it is time.. don`t force it. Just use this time to relax and prepare for your little miracle. =)

I say that I know I`d go into labor bc yesterday I didn`t contract all day while sitting down, then after like 15 minutes of being up just putting the dishes away I started to contract. Sat back down to rest and they ended up going away. I was already at the hospital 2 days ago bc I was contracting regularly 7-10 min apart but bc I`m less than 37 weeks there is nothing they can do for me. You can look at my blog for full story

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
