ermsmom (987.8 days ago) I`ve heard this works but I haven`t tried it yet because we haven`t had fruit flies in a while. Take a small bottle or container and fill it part way with balsamic vinegar, wine or fruit. Then take a piece of paper and roll it into a cone/funnel type shape. Make it very narrow at the bottom so that the flies go down to get the vinegar, get trapped and can`t get back out. I`ve also heard to take a bowl and put the same as above in it. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and poke some holes in the plastic (very small holes). Again, they get trapped and can`t get out.
jlynn203 (987.8 days ago) I used to work in a restaraunt and we would have to pour bleach down the drains to get rid of them. Of course we would have to get rid of the bottle after because bleach is not allowed in restaraunt kitchens, but it was the only way they would not come back.
jacobb-n-jordans-mommy (987.8 days ago) wipe out all your cabinets with bleach water and your counter tops, they breed in the water left over from cleaning your kitchen, I had this problem and the bleach killed all the eggs and they disappeared in ONE DAY!
arkansastechmommy (987.8 days ago) Thanks for the advice everyone!! I take the trash out daily, I do not have food sitting out. I do have a garbage disposal, and now that it was mentioned, they do seem to be worse in the kitchen. I will try cleaning that, and I`m going to double-check my pantry, just to make sure I do not have anything old that may be attracting them. They are SO annoying!!!
5against1 (987.8 days ago) do you have a garbage disposal sink in your kitchen? sometimes they come from something as simple as food down your drain. try cleaning that maybe?? i know that is the problem in my home this time of year.
Mandy-N-Eoins-Peanut (987.8 days ago) Unfortunately, if they`re everywhere, you`ve got no choice but to use fly spray. Make sure there`s no old potatoes, or bananas hiding in a press somewhere...they`re notorious for attracting those tiny little things. If you get rid of all the flies and they come back...there`s something hanging around.
pc (987.8 days ago) 1. Plug kitchen sink holes with the stopper. 2. Take trash out daily. 3. Remove any food normally left out and store in the frdge 4. If all else fails, wait them out. They usually die/dissappear in about a week.
