Aiona (986.8 days ago) I used to hate it, but now that I text my husband and parents quite a bit, I can see the need for abbreviation, with limited characters per message.
There`s no point though in replacing `wuz` for `was` if reducing characters is your goal.
I guess what really bothers me most is how my younger relatives aLl tYpE LahK dIs. aH cN bRlEE rEeD wAt dEr tYpN!!!! Sometimes it almost seems like an intricate skill, although not one I care to learn.
mommyofxyxyxx (986.8 days ago) Sorry, but it IS lazy and ignorant. period. Both to type that way and speak that way. I`d like to see someone use it on a job application or a college entrance exam.
nmck (986.9 days ago) It is just a different dialect developing to meet the newer forms of communication. I am a teacher, and never would tell my students it is `bad` or `lazy` Instead I teach them when it is appropriate to use it and when it is not.
SuperHeroMom (987.1 days ago) This is just a website for friends. When I text or msg my friends i use `slang` if thats what you want to call it. But when its for something serious or professional ofcourse I wouldn`t do it. When I`m on this website I am relaxing not trying to wreck my brain. I say it`s just like freedom of speech (freedom of typing) LOL! Anyways, It doesn`t bother me.
flowschild (987.2 days ago) well da only real reason for shorthand text slang is so u dnt hav to waste all ur charaters in one text message being that u only get 160...and from using text so frequent it becomes a habits
ShireeT (987.2 days ago) *Phew!* Good. :-) now can you pass the pipe back around again? It`s all i`m allowed besides that blasted Tylenol. lol JK. Good Night Ladies!
LailasMommy (987.2 days ago) o its fine i`m not mad i understand:)
JMendez (987.2 days ago) =D I know how a lot of you feel, I`m at the end of my pregnancy and I just want to chew someone`s face off sometimes. I love hormones. A massage sounds wonderful though, and a big piece of fudge from the freezer. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to comment...no hard feelings =)
ShireeT (987.2 days ago) LailasMommy- I was talking about the rest of us griping, not you. i meant it as an apology. sorry if that wasn`t clear :-( *Passing the Prego-Peace-Pipe*
armymom (987.2 days ago) hey we all have out nights! Sometimes when I look over and see my DH completely ignoring me snoozing on the other couch it just makes me want to yell at all you ladies.. =)
ShireeT (987.2 days ago) hmmm, you can cut the tension in here with a knife... cutco to be exact. :-P But seriously ladies, i think we all need a good long massage :-)
LailasMommy (987.2 days ago) umm okayy i never gripe ever on this site but i just don`t like it when people criticize others like it`s funny or something i mean educated people use those words too seriously i am a very mature person....and i also understand everyone has their own opinions and i stated mine thank you!!!
armymom (987.2 days ago) I`m totally guilty of that happyforest. lol (see??) I need lol therapy. =P
JMendez (987.2 days ago) Excuse me, can we please keep it adult and not throw around the curse words. We`re all supposed to be mature enough to have our own opinions but shouldn`t have to use unnecessary language. Thank you.
happyforest (987.2 days ago) i just dont like when people over-use LOL. like after everything they say. lol :)
ShireeT (987.2 days ago) LailasMommy- it`s all in good fun, i`m sure noone meant to offend anyone, it`s just fun having something to gripe about for the sake of griping. :-) Have a wonderful evening! :-)
butterblocksmom (987.2 days ago) Painful to read...I get the lol, wtf, atm, imho, but the other stuff...it is like nails down a chalk board for me, but I also cringe when I misspell something. I understand that it is probably an age thing. Age, stage, status - I`m not really certain which it falls under but it is similar to that category of people feeling the need to swear in order to add emphasis or get your point across...unnecessary but there will always be those that do it.
ermsmom (987.2 days ago) That`s one of my biggest pet peeves.
ShireeT (987.2 days ago) my biggest one is when my coworker texts me to ask if i can `cum` to work early. my husband read it last time and nearly died laughing
missyv28 (pink) (987.2 days ago) It depends on who I`m talking to and how fast I have to get my message across. If it`s just friends then I usually will use u, ur, and ppl. But honestly I don`t like `dat`. I have a really good friend that writes with all those phrases and sometimes I just don`t know what she is saying because I`m so distracted on the phrases she uses haha.
phooey (987.2 days ago) Annoying! I don`t read them! I`m with tommiesmommy!!! LOL
armymom (987.2 days ago) only certain words bother me.. I like shortening phrases.. I`ll use wtf, omg, btw, imo, lol, lmao, ty, ily, atm... it`s when words are mispelled that bothers me.. dat, iz, wuz, da. I`ll shorten You (u), Your (ur) at (@) only when I`m texting but not when I have a full keyboard in front of me. lol
KelliA (987.2 days ago) It makes me think they are very uneducated. How will they raise their children. Scary!!
mdbabyno1 (987.3 days ago) It drives me absolutely crazy!!!
RobinG (987.3 days ago) I try not to let it bother me since there are various reasons for it ~ many are here from all over the world and English is not their primary language and spelling isnt right, some arent good spellers and who are we to judge them, as long as they are good parents thats all that matters. Some actually talk that way, its like a dialect of where they live or slang that is common where they are from so that is how they would type or talk and some posts are like they are texting so they use a version of shorter words. Those bug me since this site isnt a text message, lol. All in all I dont let it get to me. There are also various ages on this site and some I attribute to age, they are alot like how my nieces talk and text me. Again it is what it is. So why let it get to you ya know? It might not be an acceptable way to post where you are from but for them it may be the way things things are done.
T3POandR2D2 (987.3 days ago) I feel like my IQ drops when I read that stuff!
daisymae (987.3 days ago) I cannot stand it and find it hard to take them seriously. I especially hate `dat` and `wuz`.
excitedredbird (987.3 days ago) I personally dont see it as being lazy, if u text alot your just so use to it as I am. Also age, gender, lifestyle, and just the person has alot to do with it. In no way does it mean I`m ignorant or un-educated.

arkansastechmommy (987.3 days ago) It don`t really bother me either way.... It don`t affect me negatively, so I really don`t care. I do often type `ur` for `your`, but I don`t see that I have I was a `waste of an education` because of it... lol.
JMendez (987.3 days ago) Oh gosh canadababy that`s exactly what I mean! How hard is it to spell correctly!!! For texting, okay .. yes, sometimes you have to shorten things because of limited characters, but as far as email, instant messages, or online networking, I don`t really see why it`s necessary. I get frustrated when I`m instant messaging with my husband and he spells `you` as `u`......It`s a 3 letter word!!! Ack! Hahaha!
canadababy (987.3 days ago) I can`t stand it! I was just talking about this with my husband last night, he was saying how annoying it was that his brother texted him and used the word `wuz`. We were laughing because it takes the same amount of letters as typing the proper word `was`...it`s not even short form, which I can sometimes understand, and it makes the person look so ignorant, lol!
