hunnybunnysmama (982.5 days ago) if your partner never smoked or quit with you that would be the easiest. trying to stay away from smokers for as long as possible would be ideal. i quit right when i got pregnant and haven`t been in a bar since... my daughter is 21 months now, not so much as a drag since i was 4 weeks pregnant. they passed a law here tho, no smoking at the bar anymore as of Jan 1 so i just might venture out to one very soon!
manzie91k (982.5 days ago) I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant, he is now 15 months old and I am still smoke free. It`s hard at times because my husband and his whole family smoke, but they have all adapted to smoking outside when my son and I are around. There is no smoking in my house period. To keep from starting back I told myself that my son needs me, and I don`t want to make him breath the smoke, so I have to stay inside the smoke free house and take care of him. If he is not around and I get a craving I just think about the cost of starting back.
SarahLJ (982.6 days ago) I quit when I first found out I was pregnant with my DS. He is now 4 1/2 months old and I have just started smoking again but only 1-2 a day as I feel really stressed at the moment. But I do plan on stopping after this packet is gone. I really wish I had never brought the pack in the first place.
barbieken7981 (982.6 days ago) I am still undecided about this I quit the day I took a pregnancy test. I still have strong cravings for them but I will be breastfeeding so I do not want to harm my baby.
rosye13 (982.8 days ago) I found it easier once the baby was here. I mean, to be able to smoke a cigarette, I would have to leave my baby for a few minutes several times a day. And as a brand new mother, I of course just wanted to be with her and holding her all the time. Plus, now they have new research saying that supposedly the toxins can be carried in your clothes and as dangerous like second hand smoke. So my friend who still smokes changes her clothes and washes her hands after everytime she goes out. What a pain!
nmck (983 days ago) I never was a smoker but my husband quit cold turkey when I got pregnant. The motivation of keeping our son healthy was enough for him to stay successful. We read somewhere that even holding a tiny baby against you clothes when you have smoked elsewhere is enough to bother some babies. He does smoke cigars once in a while when we sit in the yard in the evenings, but maybe once a month and only during the summer.
bluejeans (983.1 days ago) With both I quit cold turkey but started about 3 -4 weeks after both.
malachismom (983.1 days ago) I quit smoking when I got pregnant with my son. Three months after I had him I started smoking again. My sister and best friend also smoked. I finally quit when I decided to loose some weight, after his first b-day. I was really annoyed at my inability to breath, and I was tired of how hard it was to smoke away from him. I have remaied smoke free because of my kids. I get cravings still, 3 years since I quit, but the thought of me causing my children to suffer because I decided to continue harming myself keeps me from enduldging. Good Luck.
missyv28 (pink) (983.1 days ago) With my first pregnancy I quit cold turkey. I made a promise to my hubby and unborn child to never smoke again because I didn`t want to die at a young age and not see my son grow and have his own family. He is now 2 1/2 years and I haven`t smoked since. Good luck!
