amberzon`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll Do you believe that these women on `I was pregnant and didn`t know it`? I just find it extremely difficult to believe you could make it all the way to labor and not realize you are pregnant.
(Pregnancy poll by amberzon, 164 days ago)
Of course, it's completely possible.
Heck no, I mean really, How??
I'm just not sure, everyone is different.

A friend didnt know she was pregnant until she started cramping and gave birth on her bathroom floor. She had no reason to `be in denial` bc she already had 2 kids and is happily married. Granted, she was about 400 pounds but still...had no idea she was pregnant.

I know it is possible because I have a friend that didn`t know she was pregnant until she was at week 35, her baby was healthy and beautiful... but it was a very big shock to everyone... she was thinner than I was Pre-Pregnancy!

Denial. When I was pregnant with my first child, I had irregular periods and believed in my heart that I could not get pregnant. So, when I was experiencing symptoms, I thought that I must have had gall stones. I went to the doctor for gall stone trouble, was asked when my last period had been (2 months prior), and the nurse practitioner asked if I thought I could be pregnant. I said that I have irregular periods and that a doctor said that women who have irregular periods may not be able to get pregnant, so I didn`t know. She decided that that was a satisfactory answer and prescribed medication for gall stones. Then, I went on a gall stone diet. Then, at 12 weeks, I miscarried at home in the bed and in the shower. We went to the emergency room, and the doctor said that I had been pregnant.

No way jose! Denial perhaps and choosing to not believe it? I am 38 weeks and only gained 27 lbs...unless being over weight means you feel this crappy and achy all the time...

I knew someone. She was very young and had cancer so she figure the weight gain and the loss of period was from the chemo. Also, the baby didn`t really move too much because of the chemo. He`s now a healthy little boy.

I think it is so funny that people are so judgemental and are sure that people had to know. Every person and every pregnancy is different. Some of these women had their period all throughout, if they were very heavy they might not have felt the baby move. I think it is possible but I think it is rare.

One of my husband`s friend`s wives didn`t know she was pregnant till she was about 7 months. She has an eating disorder and as a result her periods were always irregular. She was tiny & it was only when she was going in for surgery that they made her do a test as she hadn`t had a period in ages. A friend of mine also went to college with a girl who one day went into the doctor thinking she had a kidney infection and an hour later she was on her way to the labour ward!

Well Ì`ve heard of people saying they were in or near their 3rd trimester before finding out, one lady I worked with was 7 months, and she was super fit. I thought unless you`re grossly obese and have irregular periods then maybe but this woman has a body to die for, and apparently has always been super-fit. And she`s not the bullshitting type so I don`t know. Personally I wonder how you can be so out of tune with your own body - I suspected something was up when I had a couple of headaches which was out of character... And I don't know about you girls but after doing the deed, I've ALWAYS had a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that there is a very small possibility of being pregnant until I get my period...

happyforest (164.1 days ago)
people may say they didnt know, but they did. even if it was at the very end. by then they might think `no way could i be pregnant bc i would have noticed before now` so they just brush off the idea then BOOM they are in labor. and i think anyone who has been through labor before knows that there is no way you could be in labor and just think you were `sick` or `had to use the bathroom`. i would have seriously thought i was dying or something!!

My mom didn`t know she was pregnant til she was 7 months. She kept getting `periods` and only gained about 10 pounds, which she just thought was her getting fat. She never felt kicks, nothing. She was having bad stomach pains so she went to the doctor. I ended up being born early because she didn`t have any prenatal care.

My BFF didn`t seem to realize that she was pregnant until she was 6 months. None of us could tell that she was pregnant and she was one of those women that is so thin that she didn`t have a cycle. Personally, I think she must have been WAY disconnected to her body to NOT realize that she was pregnant but seriously, her mother noticed because she was laying out in a bikini. I`m not about to call her a liar but I KNEW that I was pregnant before Week #5...

mumzie1212 (164.2 days ago)
it happened to a friend of mine. unfortunetly, she gave birth to a baby boy they figured was around 6-7 months and he died. being a mother, i would have not have been able to tell you she was pregnant. and i saw this girl 3 days a week. maybe that she had put on a few lbs, but she did not look `pregnant` at all, especially for how far along she was. was really sad. she had the baby at home, she thought she was sick and had to go to the bathroom. i though would not believe it unless i actually knew someone myself.

Denial

ladobruk (164.2 days ago)
I believe it can happen - I personally don`t see how. More believable in larger women, so hard to believe with smaller ones. Everything else aside, how on earth do they not feel the baby kicking? Weird.

IvysMomma (164.2 days ago)
I dont see how it can happen but somehow it really does....It happened to my cousins neighbor not too long ago..People are freakin weird.

MelissaJoanne (164.2 days ago)
Yes I believe it, only because it happened to a friend of mine (who has been contacted to do the show, but hasn`t been on it in part because she doesn`t want people talking smack about her on the internet!) :-p
My friend has always had irregular periods, and continued to have them during her pregnancy. She took a few preg. tests when her period seemed stranger than usual, and they were all negative. She lost weight, she didn`t look at all pregnant (maybe a little bustier, but she was busty before). She already had intestinal problems, so what she thought was her usual intestinal issues could have been a baby moving.
She called in sick to work one day thinking that she was having bad cramps, and realized what was going on as she delivered her own baby on her living room floor. She was astounded that the tiny tiny baby girl was alive. She then called 911, and tried to not go into shock. Now, she has a happy healthy toddler.
So it`s crazy, yes, and I don`t think my friend would`ve believed it if she`d heard it from someone else. It`s weird, but possible.

googie32 (164.2 days ago)
with all the weird medical `miracles` now a days I don`t think it`s impossible. But I`m not naive either... don`t think that the show is fake however...out of all the ppl in the world it`s not unheard of to not know your pregnant..esp if your overweight...I don`t really see why someone would lie about that...but who knows..

startingover (164.2 days ago)
My best friend didn`t know she was pregnant until she was 7 months..and she only knew she was because the baby started kicking hard :)

amberzon (164.2 days ago)
Yeah but, I was a little large when I got pregs last time, we didn`t realize until I was 5 months, but had we not figured it out then it wouldn`t have taken long after that!!! I almost believed those shows when I had never been pregnant, now I find it impossible. I also have to say that I have decided it is very unhealthy for pregnant women to watch the Discovery Health channel. I cry every time I watch any show about peeps having babies.

GavinsMum (164.2 days ago)
i actually know somebody.. she is alittle larger who didnt know she was prego til she was 8 months. She only knew because she all of a sudden got some flu like feelings come to find out it was actually the baby! As to how she didnt feel baby i have no idea.. my little man was kicking the crap out of me. But she really honestly had no idea she was even pregnant. They had less then a month to prepare for a baby. I dont know how she didnt know like i said but there was def a baby in the end :)

amberzon (164.2 days ago)
That`s what I am saying, I watched like two of them in a row, just sitting there with my mouth hanging open. Wayyyy too much about your body changes, not just weight gain, for it to go completely unnoticed.

courtenay (164.2 days ago)
i dont believe it for a second, i believe these people for whatever reasons were to scared to admit it to themselves or actually did know but were so far in denial and too scared to say anything. whether you show or not there is no way you can not feel a baby moving around in there esspecially in the later weeks

happyforest (164.2 days ago)
NOOOOO! omg are there people who really believe that? someone was just making a tv show and had to come up with one that hasnt been done yet (which would be hard) but you would think they could do better than that!
