athenaB1984 (968.8 days ago) we just bought a house and we painted one of the spare rooms downstairs. There was this bluish/greenish spot that kept popping up. Even after I kept rolling painover it. I`m guessing this is mold? What did yours look like? Anyway, later that week I went to my favorite hairdresser...who ALSo happens to work at Lowe`s home repair store. He said to clean it with bleach and keep an eye on it. He said that once you have inspectors come, you need to put that information on the discolsures about the mold if you ever decide to sell. Which can be a deal breaker for some.
RobinG (969.2 days ago) Get a sheet rock knife, cut the area or panal and pull off the studs. Replace with same size new sheet rock, tape and paint :) If studs are moldy, replace them too :)
RobinG (969.3 days ago) Replacing at least the one piece of sheet rock isnt hard or to expensive and easy enough for a do it yourself kind of guy ~ I would remove the wall yourself examine the wood to see if it is deep within the wall and if it looks clear replace the sheet rock alone or a few 2x4`s if needed. We`ve done it to a number of times to walls ourselves for updates and it is only a couple hundred, if that :)
pooka (969.3 days ago) we had horrible mold problems in our old place my son was sick 1-2 times a month since he was 5 months under just after his first birthday when he was hospitalized. We moved and he has since had no problems with his lungs and just had a mild cold the past three days and it did not turn into a huge deal like it would have in our old place.
mommy2be707 (969.3 days ago) i say just clean it up and keep an eye on it
googie32 (969.3 days ago) oh lol you sound like me....in our last house we had a huge mold problem and now the house we are in is fine except that the nursery is in the basement...don`t picture dark dirty cellar lol...and I found that the carpet smelled like mildew on one of the outside walls and I was freaked...there isn`t any mold growing up the walls but I`m still so paranoid because it`s hard to keep a lower level moisture free and I`m worried about it becoming a problem..if it`s just a small area then treat it with a bleach/water mixture and keep an eye on it...I wouldn`t replace the whole wall at this point.
m.e.a (969.3 days ago) my son had no health problems til i moved into our new house, (which is still old lol) in the room, we noticed mould spores but ignored it. id wake to my son coughin his lungs out at night. i realised the mould had moved onto his pillow and bed sheets, i cried my eyes out for days when the doc told me he had mild asthma. i moved house and made sure the room is ventilated 24/7 like open wiondows every time u can so that fresh air can come in and work over the mould if u kno wat i mean. hes still coughs at night but its better now and only coughs after a feed which is just a bit. if u want, move your crib to another side of the nursey away from the spores and near a window but not too close
