nmck (966.9 days ago) I am a teacher. Gift cards are awesome!! Once a kid gave me lottery tickets. That was an inexpensive gift, but fun!! And it was not something ugly covered in country apples or chalkboards that you just have to find a place to put it. Truthfully, after several years of teaching, that stuff is just really overdone. I would rather have a $5 or $10 gift card than a piece of teacher decor...or even just a thank you card!! Parents never hesitate to complain to teachers, but in general we don`t hear as many compliments or words of appreciation, and that would cost nothing. EditDelete
phooey (966.9 days ago) She`ll really appreciate a gift card. Have your daughter make a card for her with a drawing on it, that`s the thoughtful part. I keep all of the cards students make me and ones where parents write notes on them too! EditDelete
MS.mom (966.9 days ago) I have heard teachers (probably not all) say they prefer not to have anything to do with teaching.. Give her a gift card or something else. EditDelete

adalynnsmommy(PINK) (966.9 days ago) One of the best gifts I think is a book for the classroom. A nice story book that you can read to your future students. Write a short thank you note on the inside cover so she/he will have a usefull keepsake to remind them of your daughter and your appreciation. EditDelete
ibaheir2dathrone (966.9 days ago) My son`s 1st grade teacher was retiring. I had candy bar labels made. (for the Hershey Nuggets)I went on Ebay and found some. (real cheap less than 2 dollars for 30) I had her name and the dates she started and stopped teaching and a sweet little message. I tied these in a see through gift bag and tied a pretty bow on it. I also bought a personalized name poem (from Ebay) She loved them. I have seen her since, she talked about how she saved the little wrappers. (She wouldn`t let her hubby eat the chocolates either.) :) EditDelete

ermsmom (967 days ago) Gift cards for coffee, bookstore, dinner, etc... A friend of mine was give a bottle of alcohol which she loved. I`d feel weird about giving the teacher alcohol though unless I knew him/her very well. EditDelete
MarcieB (967 days ago) I found a nice poem about teachers and printed it on pretty paper with matting and put it in a frame. I wrote on the back the date and our childs name and a little thank you note. I think in all I spent $12.00 Candles are also good I`ve heard. EditDelete
