twins!! (964.4 days ago) ok dont know if this one was mentioned cause ther are alot of posts and i dont want to read ALL of em but THE LANSINOH with lanolin cream is awesome. its white but rubs in clear, so you see its all covered but then clears up so no mess, I LOVE it cause in a few applications diaper rash is gone.
Luis and Rosalanis Mami (964.8 days ago) After you use the wipes, let the area air dry completely then put a layer of desitin (original formula) then a thick layer of vaseline over it, this will help get rid of the rash and protect the skin, try not to use anything that is scented in this area also.
TwinklinBrwnEyes (964.8 days ago) Not reading what everyone else suggested. But I suggest Resinol (can be ordered at Walgreens pharmacy) not sure if you can purchase it over the counter at Walmart, Target, etc. It worked wonders on my little ones tush. Also, look for the highest content of Zinc Oxide...I believe desitin overnight has the highest ive found of 40%. In the meantime use wet washclothes using wipes even frangrance free sensitive ones will still hurt his cheeks.
avaann (964.9 days ago) we`ve had diaper rash and we stick with using pampers with aloe wipes because they are super moistured and they just glide across her bottom and dont irritate like any other wipe would. then i use aveeno diaper rash cream. its natural and we alternate between that and baby powder. it pretty much clears up over night or sooner.
My Hands R Full (964.9 days ago) burts bees diaper cream and weleda calendula diaper ointment work really well.. works faster then all the other diaper creams Ive tried.
MysticMoonMommyIsBack (964.9 days ago) This reaction to the medication could be a penicilin allergy. If your child is under 2 years of age doctors will most likely suggest that you use the Antifungal Lotramin cream on the rash for treating the yeast. This should be applied at night before the baby is put to bed, again in the morning, then when they go and get up from an afternoon nap. between these uses I found it best to switch between Balmex and A&D. Hope this helps!
STCT (965 days ago) I also gave my daughter probiotic and it helped so much with the diarrhea. I really like Butt Paste diaper cream. Also if it`s bothering him when you have to change is diaper instead of using wipes run his bum under water. It will also help sooth it.
MamaTex (965 days ago) Dr. Smith`s - it`s pricey but well worth the money.
pooka (965 days ago) when my son is in rough shape with diaper rash i give him acidophiles pills (healthy probiotic cultures) I just break them open and add to his food. Perfectly safe for children and you can get them in the drug store. If he is on antibiotics his healthy bacteria is being destroyed to and the acidophiles will replace what is being lost. I also use Nilstat cream, its for yeast rashes. If his rash is still bad you can use cortisone cream and it will take care of the redness.
jenakers (965 days ago) Could be yeast. You can get vagasil, works wonders.
~amy~ (965 days ago) Triple cream from Target or walmart!!
abbyquiet (965 days ago) anytime my son`s having problems with diaper rashes, i just put the desitin creamy on him, after every poop and practically every diaper change until he`s better, then i dont do it so much.
StaceyL (965 days ago) From what I`ve read (and used) anything with zinc oxide in it. My son has a diaper rash on occasion and we`ve had luck with Desitin Creamy.
♥ ħhlЄy ▫ ßєär ®♥ (965 days ago) my son also has had a little bit of diarrhea lately i think its cuz hes cutting teeth...but anyway he poops everytime i change him and his bottom was sooo red it was almost bleeding :( i had been leaving him on a blanket with no diaper the last couple days and that seemed to help ALOT! thats what the pediatrician recommended. When i havto put the diaper on though, i use desitin instant relief cream and i`ve found it to be the best! The rash is starting to clear up even tho he still has diarrhea...:s
nmck (965 days ago) I have been through this exact thing, more than once since my son had a few ear infections this winter. It is a pain, but this should clear it up for sure... You have to wash his butt with soap and water after every episode. The reason he is getting a rash is there is stomach acid in his poop since it is moving through so fast, and it is actually digesting his skin. After washing it, apply zinc oxide or A&D cream to his butt to protect it from the next episode. You can also mix a little maalox in with the zinc oxide, as it will nuetralize the acid and stop it from damaging the skin.
The reason babies get diarrhea on antibiotics is that it flushes the good flora from their digestive systems too. Losing this flora causes a temporary lactose intolerance. If you are formula feeding, switching to soy for a few days or a week will work wonders. Also, feeding him yogurt like Yo Baby if he is over 6 months helps restore it, or you can buy probiotic drops from the drug store. They are usually back with the pharmacist b/c they have to be kept in the fridge. Good luck!!
