I was asked to be a mod as well. I rarely ever delete anything, and if I do, it`s part of a comment if it is calling someone names or singling out another member in a bad way. I never delete the polls or whole comments.

I did becuase it referred to mods and why one would want to be one and even though I am not new I did choose to be one at one time and your post didnt clarify you were only referring to a select few perhaps. That is the problem with many posts, people make blanket statements without regard to the fact that it refers to all those it references if the post isnt clarfied to say otherwise. For ex: lilmama6 wrote `with the exception of a few`, not sure if she referenced me or not but I didnt take it personally because she clarified her intent with the post and her opinion. So many are not clear and make blanket statements that dont apply to all and it causes drama since all those it refers to will take it personally since it wasnt clear on who it was aimed at. And noone should be aiming anyhow ~ people seem to forget the statement ~ `cant say something nice then dont say anything at all` ~ these mod posts/polls are getting old and I`m tired of defending my position because statements are posted as in referring to all. If there is a problem with mods go to Laura... hummm I`ve said that before too ~

sorry robin, i hope you dont think i meant you specifically. i enjoy reading your comments on thing and think you are geniunly here to help people. but i was just answering her question about (almost) everyone else, if people are all suddenly wanting to become MOD, then i dont know why else they would want to except to feel a step up or that they have authority. i feel like there are very few who would actually volunteer this much time and effort just bc they want to be nice.

I am a mod, cant remember when I was asked to be one but have been a for a while. I dont have to much free time jemma and I dont do it to feel powerful happyforest. I am a mom just like everyone else here and I only delete or modify things that are hurful, bad swearing or against site policy IF i come acrossed it or have a mom post to me on my page (which happens alot)... This site is not moderated by any mods 24/7 which is why some things remain and some things dont. We dont have schedules or areas we must watch. I dont remove anything because I dont like the post or agree with what was said, read my posts I too have shared my piece of mind on things that were controversial. And the only polls I read are ones I am interested in, so even if I am online the site I am not moderating all parts of it because I am here as a mom ~ not a mod. the other day I came acrossed a post that was beyond offensive to me and I left it. The next day I had two moms ask me to intervene and so I went back to the poll and removed ONLY that part of it, nothing else. Hummmm If I recall we`ve just have these same type of conversations a few pages back, dejavue.. I`m with thebigtomato ~ why do you think everyone is suddenly becoming a mod? I didnt notice anything that lead me to believe that we suddenly have dozens of new mods.... I also dont think Laura would just say yes to hoards of people in a day. If you scan the other pages, there were a number of polls on mods adn we shared the same thing about what we do or dont do (dejavue) and I created a poll asking who the mods were because I wasnt sure and some replied. When I deleted the F word and C word it wasnt me who felt powerful, it came acrossed as the posters feeling they were the powerful ones and the poster who choose to use the C word most certainly wasnt acting like an adult but a child to post that word. I dont view deleting those specific profanity words and a sentence two moms approached me about that I too found offensive as me being powerful or having to much time on my hands. If you feel that is what it is well then... you and I have a different definitions of those words.

I am a mod, I became one because Dirk was asking if anyone was interested at the time to be one. That was in 2006. And I vagely use it unless I really see negative posts or bad html coding.

LOL I have too much time on my hands? That`s just funny. I was asked to be a mod, I didn`t ask to be one. I agreed because at the time there were a bunch of people creating fake profiles and coming to my child development month and calling people nasty names. I can`t speak to how others view their position, but I feel like my job is only to remove the specific comments that are hateful. I don`t get any power trip from it and almost never use my ability. The most frequent thing I use it for is fixing technical problems. Like, just today someone opened a bold tag on our page and didn`t close it so I edited their post to close the tag so the whole page wasn`t bold. Stuff like that.
