KR (961.5 days ago) i HATE it .. omg do i ever.. i have friends who talk to their child in baby talk all the time ( the child is three ) but everyone is different. Sometimes they do it to my son and i dont say anything but it buggs me. Are children are human and instead of taching them short works or silly sounding words why not teach them the real thing.
angie2008 (961.5 days ago) Absolutely not! I don`t understand why you would say goo gaa and all those noises and not teach the baby the language you speak. I do go babababa or dadada to encourage my dd to learn new sounds but not talking to her in baby talk. It drives me nuts when people use baby talk.
jas1987 (961.6 days ago) I sometimes do it, i guess it comes to being a first time parent, like we say bot bot, for bottle. do you want a bum change, for do you want a nappy change... We call him cheeky monkey or bubba, instead of his name, he`s 8 months old today and i swear he doesn`t even know his name.... It`s bad...
Smarie79 (961.6 days ago) I don`t like it. They can`t learn to speak correctly if you don`t talk to them using real words. I work in a daycare and have 2 year olds who talk so much baby talk and wonder why, then you hear their parents talking to them and you see why.
dedileb (961.6 days ago) yeah i know but its when most of the time its in a baby voice even though they are not so baby...
nmck (961.6 days ago) I can count the baby words we actually say on one hand... and because my husband and I never do it, it drives us nuts when we here people do it...like his family. They are not used to how we talk to him because they live far away. They say things to my son like `uppy?` Where we say, `Come on, stand up!` it really drives me nuts when people take nouns and turn them into verbs. `Do you have to potty?` How is that kid going to acquire proper language structure? Why not, `Do you have to use the potty?`
butterblocksmom (961.6 days ago) Dedi, I know I shouldn`t but sometimes I refer to his bottle like he would `baabaa` or instead of speaking full sentences I shorten it. It`s hard not too!
dedileb (961.6 days ago) personally im not a fan of it i think maybe a lil bit is ok here and there when they are babies but i just think some ppl over do it...
