pediatrician because they specialize in babies

pediatrician, all the way. Kinda of like, when you go to a dr, for a reg checkup, and the dr refers you to a specialist in THAT area, you go to a diff dr. Where a family doctor is qualified to care for babies-all the way into adulthood, they aren`t SPECIFICALLY specializing in pediatrics. We wanted to have a dr for girls, that was did just that, specialize in pediatrics. I`ve also liked that, when an outbreak of something is going around, it`s easy to call up pediatrician and ask about it, because they see so many kids in a day. AND, the waiting rooms, are way more kid friendly. I kow when i go to a dr appt for me, (not much) but when i do, it`s stressful bringing 2 toddlers, or babies, and them crying or fussing, where, at the pediatrician`s office, it`s normal LOL, and i find myself thinking `thank God, it isn`t MY child` LOL

I prefer a ped. A ped specializes in children a family docs doesnt. I know two moms who went to a family practice and changed after because both had a child with concerns and the family doc didnt pick up on the dx as fast as the ped. (My SIL to this day shares how she regrets using a family doc with her first and half the troubles would have been eliminted if she had used a ped.) A ped sees things everyday when it comes to kids and is more intune with kids issues more so then a family doc.

I prefer a pediatrician, but I have to settle for a family practice doctor. I wanted a pedi, but got no where because - the one company policy, the other pedi office wasn`t accepting new patients and the other office didn`t accept our insurance - ugh!

  1. alright ladies i need some advice... PLEASE... i think the 4 year old girl that i watch during the day is... masterbating!... she lays on the floor belly down... both hands under her and she is `humping` her hands (the way it looks) so i asked her `what are you doing?` and she quickly jumps up and says `nothing!!!` really fast... so i sat her down (am i ok to sit her down and ask her? i have no clue what to do with this!) but i sat hger down and asked her what she was doing and she got upset... i asked if she was sopposed to be doing this and she said no... i asked her why and she said bc daddy said not to... i asked her what she wasnt sopposed to do and she wouldnt say... so im not sure if she was masterbating or not but it sure looks like it... then i told her to go take a nap and i was going to have a talk with her mom... and she began to cry and say no do say anything... so i dont know what to do... any of you going through this with your own kids??? HELP... i dont know if its my place because im the `babysitter`...
  2. i posted a little while ago about my 16 month old daughter waking up in the middle of the night and staying awake for an hour. Well last night it was 2.5hrs. I gave her milk and she was still wide awake, rubbed her back and even let her cry for an hour(me going in frequently). I don`t know why she is waking up for long periods. She only takes 1 nap which lasts 2-3 hrs, has a regular bedtime routine since she was little. What else can I do and why is she doing this?
  3. For those of you who exercised during pregnancy, what week did you stop? I`ve been going to the gym 4-5x/week for 30 min or so for most of my pregnancy (doing the eliptical or walking on the treadmill). Now that I`m 37 weeks, I`m just not motivated anymore. My ankles are swollen most of the time, and my knees, feet and groin are sore. I pretty much limp around pathetically when I walk. 30 min walking on the treadmill just wipes me out now, and I`m too tired to do anything for the rest of the day. I feel so pathetic, and I want to stay healthy...but when do you give up? I plan on working back into things post pardum btw. Thanks!
  4. For those of you with more than one pregnancy under your belt; Did it get any easier to tell your family?
  5. Have any of you become pregnant from pre-ejaculate?
  6. Aside from swear words, what are some words that are NOT allowed in your home?
  7. When Christmas shopping for your LO do you go all out and try to find all the special items on his or her list? If you cant find it does it stress you out? Or do you just buy what you see on sale?
  8. Ok, so my 1 year old used to be such a good sleeper, approx 8-7:30. The last few nights has been driving me nuts, she`s been waking me up at 6am! I`ve tried everything, giving her some milk to go back to bed, putting toys in her crib to occupy her, but she kept crying after a short while. She wanted to be out and playing like it was her wake up time. I tried feeding her breakfast once though, and she wouldn`t have it, so I suppose I don`t know what to do. She`ll drink her milk, but she just wants to get out and play, what do I do?!
