We waited to find out the sex and it was the best surprise ever! And it didn`t impact getting ready at all. We got all neutral baby gear because we figured we would want to use it for the rest of our kids too. We sponge painted the bedroom kind of a sage green color, and put up Winnie the Pooh wall stickers. We did the whole bedroom in Winnie the Pooh theme, so it would work for either. As far as the clothes, we got all white onesies and about a week`s worth of neutral newborn clothes. Once our daughter was born, everyone brought us tons of girl clothes so it didn`t even matter that we didn`t have them ahead of time. We also bought a few pink accessories for her room that made it more girly. I`m pregnant again and we decided not to find out what we`re having this time either! There`s not a lot of true surprises in life, so we want to take advantage of the ones we can!

ARGH! I wanted to not find out but I`m the type that has to be all prepared with pink or blue! I had two boys first, and I didn`t find out I was having a girl with my daughter until I was like 7 months. It drove me crazy and then when I found out I had so much fun setting everything up for my lil princess! But the element of surprise is what attracted me to the idea of not finding out. I was always so anxious to find out before hand though to do shopping. I don`t like the gender neutral clothes for a girl, they all look like they belong on a boy. At least everything I found did. But thats just my opinion! =)

We planned to find out. If the hospital wasn’t going to tell us, we were going to get a private scan done to find out. We did get the private scan also just to be sure. It depends on the type of person you are. I am planner! I wanted to know. We felt just as much suspense, anticipation and joy when we found out. I don’t think it really matters; it is still a great surprise. The rest of the pregnancy was spent deciding on her name and I loved decorating her room with her in mind.

It didn`t impact my preparation at all! People are SO overdramatic with the `Well if I don`t know, then I can`t prepare` or `Well I have to find out so that I can buy blue or pink` I have an awesome `red` gender neutral nursery! Check it out on my page. I have a ton of gender neutral clothes too. And to tell you the truth, I got so many pink clothes after my girls were born from people. I mean enough to cloth them until they`re a year old! Having all yellow, green and white did NOT effect a thing. Plus, this was my first pregnancy, and I know that I want more. Well why in the world would I, knowing that I want more babies that could possibly be the opposite sex of my current children, go out and waste a crap load of money on gender specific clothes that I can never use again?! I would have to buy all over again! Ugh, s-t-u-p-i-d! I am set now for the future when I hopefully get my son(s) :o) In addition, most baby toys are gender neutral, so the only thing effected is the nursery and the clothing. Again, there are some kick butt cool gender neutral nurseries out there and why waste money on all pink or blue, particularly you plan to have more?! TRUST ME, people will buy you pink or blue a.s.a.p.! It is life`s greatest surprise and I would never dream of spoiling it. Because I had twins, I had over 60 ultrasounds while I was pregnant. I adverted my eyes for every single one! So, it`s possible and really not that hard! I urge you NOT to find out! It`s so amazing waiting and wondering. Seriously, a totally different and more fulfilling experience - the way nature intended it to be!
