nmck (952.3 days ago) I am a teacher, and I LOVE YOU!!!! When my kids are old enough for school, I will make sure they work on basic math and instant fact recall over the summer, as well as always having them read a book.
california-mom (952.4 days ago) I home school both of my school age children and continue throughtout the summers. No stops whatsoever except the usual weekends and holidays or if we have people visiting us.
MysticMoonMommyIsBack (952.4 days ago) yup, I`ve been working with the boys, particularly my oldest because he`s had to repeat both pre-K and KG. my second and him are both going into first grade this coming school year and I know Ridley (my second) will have very little if any problems because he was above level in everything before even half the school year was out. Ewan on the other hand was just finally on KG level a few months before school let out. Aiden`s going into Pre-K and I`ve been working with him as much as possible too, but he should do fine in school as long as he doesn`t act too stuborn there...
RobinG (952.5 days ago) I def am all for it when they are young and entering but the older they get the more they really need a break from all the hard work they did all year. My older kids dont do work during the summer unless they are struggling on a specific subject then we work on that but not just cause ~ They do however get summer reading books that they are required to read when in 6th - 8th grade so they do do that because it is required.
MrsHilde75 (952.5 days ago) My best friend (whom is also a teacher) has a little boy (Kegan) & he`s five. He starts K this year as well. She just got him some workbooks and they work on them in the evening throughout the summer. She feels it`s a great way to keep him on his toes & be prepared for the upcoming school year.
