california-mom (951 days ago) Quit. Being fired looks terrible.
nutnut (951.5 days ago) if he`s a truck driver he should know better than to drink and drive. (no offense) my SO is a trucker and this is something very serious. now, depending on the company he may not get fired. some will suspend for a few months and take the driver back on. some will have nothing to do with it. theres a bunch of different rules that vary company to company.even if he resigns, if he tried to get another trucking job, they would see his dmv records its part of the hiring process. it will be on his record for a very long time. either way he will not get unemployment that im aware of. i dont think it makes much of a difference either way. he should find out from the judge if there is anything he can do to change the outcome of this going on his record. if its a first offense there is a chance the judge will be easier on him. sometimes taking classes can cut time off of how long this stays on record for. im not sure how it works in your state. i would look into everything i could bc this is your friends means of financial security. good luck to your friend.
chevychic96 (951.5 days ago) Just to give you all a little more detail....he got a DUI and will loose his CDL license which is required where he works. Once he is convicted of the DUI in court he will loose the CDL and no longer be able to work....because this is a requirement where he works he would not be eligible for unemployment either. It is a sticky situation, he has been working for this company for 5 years and this is what he went to college for....but he made a mistake and now he will have to pay the price. All of his supervisors say that he can use them as a reference in the future and no one dislikes him, so I vote for the resignation also. Thanks for your advice.
avaann (951.5 days ago) i agree, also. but are they defenitely getting fired? wouldnt use employer as a reference later.lol
