The ONLY day care I would have my daugher in, was the military base day care. It`s more of a school setting appropriate by age groups. They have cameras in every room and strict rules when it comes to incident reports...etc. I love that day care. It took 6 months of being on a waiting list to get her on there. Until then, my mom flew in from New Jersey and cared for her. I did check out about 20 other day cares, but I did not get that `warm fuzzy` feeling for any of them. Just the base day care. you have to go off your instinct..what is your first reaction to the day care or babysitter? Go off of that.

We alternate between my mom, hubby`s dad, and hubby`s g-ma. so they only get her a time or two a week so it isnt so much on anyone

we went to 20 differnt daycares and finally found one we trusted. they were very good with my daughter. now im a sahm and thats what i plan to be until this child coming is of school age. i understand its not always an option for moms to stay home and i feel blessed i can. we arent rich, so there are so many sacrafices we make in order for me to stay home right now. we never have new things, we have second hand cars, go without new carpet we desperatly need and things like that, but we manage. you can do research and talk with other parents in your neigborhood. for awhile i left my daughter with my neigbhor, but it got too expensive for me, so i had no choice but to put her into day care. good luck. the other alternative is trying to work opposite shifts as your SO, or looking towards family. we have no family near us, so that wasnt an option. good luck!

my son is 16mths and has been at the same daycare since he was 8weeks old and him and i both love his daycare!!! the know him so well especially since he`s been there since the earliest he could-i like knowing that they know him as much as i do.

Sadly there are some terrible daycares (hugs to your son) or staff members but that isnt the case for all. Having worked there you should have a good idea on what to ask, look out for and expect so I`d do your research and talk to parents, ask about them around town etc etc. Dont let one bad experience make them all look bad cause that just isnt the case. I`ve more horror stories about nannies then daycares so dont assume it is just a facility. And being `registered` doesnt make it safer. So find the right person(s) with lots of investigating :)

My son is in a facility and, so far, we are very happy. He has become a social butterfly and is learning new things by watching older kids. If you have limited options, you might consider interviewing reputable facilities and ask hard and very specific questions. When choosing our provider, I would pop-in unexpectedly a stay for a couple of hours to watch & listen. You`ll observe a lot...

Ladobruk- I no that all daycares r not horrid and know about research and interview. I have been fortunate to b on both sides of the spectrum. I am really having this worry because I have seen things at places I have worked, the so called prestig and when u turn ur back, bam! It happened to my son who is now 7. I walked n and caught the teacher shaking him violently and screaming at him to shut up. He was only a year old.I called CPS and they did a so called investigation. Well that lady had no consequences. My Degree is n ECE. And I am not a new mom but an aware one. I wouldn`t won`t to wait 4 something to happen to my child and then say ok I am taking u out, the damage is done then. I guess it's just something I have to get over. And maybe after a year old and a camera n the room I would feel better about it. :)
