bethk (131.7 days ago) Thanks everyone! I feel more at ease now! The PG women didnt have any underlieing health probs as far as Ive found out but dont think they`ve said the whole thing on it yet xx
canadababy (131.8 days ago) Pregnant women are at a higher risk for all illnesses because of a lowered immune system :) Just be careful and wash your hands frequently, no need to freak out.
EmmaReed84 (131.9 days ago) It can be worrying as a women died in our local hospital and had no other underlying conditions. But put it in to perspective...Thousands of people have had it now and the ratio of people having it and dieing from it is not actually that high. Don`t stress over it. Like everyone else has said the normal flu can be much worse
~amy~ (131.9 days ago) *sigh* everytime I hear swine flu I just want to slap someone. Especially if that someone works in the government or media! The regular flu kills WAAAAY more every year. When the swine flu has assisted (yes JUST assisted not CAUSED) with a death they make it seem like it was just the swine flu.. check out the person that died. 99% of the time they were already sick with something chronic. Never take what the media says as the truth. They are there for a story and that is it!
Also, like happyforest.. I have NEVER caught the flu and have NEVER been vaccinated against it! If you are worried about catching any flu.. up your intake of vitamin C and get your sleep!
happyforest (132 days ago) i dont worry, the `normal` flu kills more people in one year than all the swine flu deaths put together so far. people are just blowing this out of proportion. ive never even had the regular flu, and ive also never been vaccinated for it.
ladobruk (132 days ago) It is starting to worry me. It is getting quite rampant where I am and is expected to get even worse at flu season.
mamabear7406 (132.1 days ago) What momma2liv says is correct, everyone who has died certainly in my country from swine flu has had an additional medical condition. I`m worried about it, but theres nothing we can do aside from taking all the recommended precautions.
EllaG (132.1 days ago) I was at the doc last night and mentioned this. he said that I`m no more at risk than a pg woman getting the regular flu in the winter. He said that getting the vaccine while pg could be more dangerous than getting the flu itself as it hasn`t been through many trials yet. I`m still worried about it, but more for when the baby is born (Nov due date) and the LO catching it.
mama2liv (132.2 days ago) My very best friend is 11 weeks pregnant and got the swine flu, as well as her husband and almost 2 year old daughter. She could not even get out of bed for 15 days! They did a scan and heartbeat check everyday and her baby is fine. They won`t know if there are long term effects until the baby is here. She is better now but she told be that she just felt like she has a really bad case of the flu and was very weak. I researched when I found out that soemone so close to me had it, and so far all of the recorded deaths in the US were NOT just from swine flu, they had some other illness or something else that weakened there immune system. The woman that I read that died in texas was very ill due to complications from the pregnancy, which is what they say actually killed her, she just has swine flu as well.
