adriana03`s poll Show results | Hide results

Other-poll poll I went to babiesrus. The crib samples out have really soft crib mattresses. there the memory foam kind. would you get those? regarding sids not cost or anything else.I heard the regular brick hard mattresses are better for sids.

amy i think you are very stubborn first of all alot of mothers are afraid to sleep at night because they do know how many babies die of sids its a natural thing and unless you have lost your baby to sids you would`nt know anything about it and there is a reason they are labeling everything sids safe my daughter died because she turned on her stomach on a softer mattress and suffocated in it so it does happen and i`d rather my child have a flat head and be a little uncomfortable sleeping than dying.

also it has decreased because they are correctly labeling infant deaths these days. Before everything was a SIDS death.. now they correctly identify it as suffocation, etc.

yes.. fear mongering. They have mothers too terrified to sleep at night for fear that their babies are going to stop breathing. Yes there are things you can do to "help". But labeling everything "SIDS SAFE" and all that other BS is rediculous.. it's just a money market. Use commen sense when buying things for your baby. My LO likes a soft mattress because that is what he has been sleeping on since he was born. When I moved him to his crib he tossed and turned all night until I softened the mattress. You wonder why all the babies heads are flat these days...

oh and the crib has bumpers.. *gasp* lol!

I looked all over for a soft mattress! I couldn`t find one. I ended up getting a quilted mattress pad and cutting it down to fit for my babies crib. Soft beds have nothing to do with SIDS. Babies don`t sufficate in a mattress- puffy pillow and blanket maybe but not a mattress. My LO slept in my bed with my THICK memory foam mattress topper for months. Nothing happened. I wish everyone would stop with the fear mongering with this sids stuff... they don`t really know what causes it. In reality EVERYTHING could probably cause sids.. sorry guess I`m just upset cause I spent hours and hours looking for something to make my LOs bed soft.

Babies don`t need a soft mattress, I wouldn`t even consider getting one.

  1. OMG, I posted on FB (in reponse to a suggestion made to me on From Our House To Yours) that I didn`t like a business because the items were very expensive and my friend got a bad deal there and the owner is threatening to sue me! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I actually paid a consultation fee and my lawyer told me that she was `absurd with possible mental health problems.` I am protected by the fisrt ammendment to express my honest opinions freely where I choose, but he said she can take it to court(because people can TRY to sue over anything) anyway and that it might cost me legal bills. We will both be out a lot of money because she couldn`t possibly win. Can you believe that? FML! First my records and now this! I hope my baby isn`t a bad luck baby. I see people not recommending or recommending businesses all the time on FB!
  2. Is SaraKelly still on here? I know she was a mod but I didn`t see her post in the previous Who Is A Mod poll...
  3. ANGRY!!!! My jenakers account is missing my ENTIRE journal from my high risk pregnancy and my letthisonestick account for my 7 month old is completely gone along with my journal. I AM SICK OVER IT!
  4. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  5. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  6. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  7. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  8. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  9. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  10. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
