jif-lemon (938.7 days ago) Definitely try the juices - pear juice is a good laxative (and tastes better than prune). But if 24 hours later he still can't do a dooey, put a suppository in him. EditDelete
butterblocksmom (944.7 days ago) Rice is one of those foods that can cause constipation...so either cut back on the solids, or mix in the applejuice or prunes with the breastmilk or water you use to get the rice moist. EditDelete
zookeeper (945.3 days ago) Your baby might not be ready for solids. I tried and stopped solids 3 or 4 times with my son because he would get constipated. He is now almost 9 months and eating several things without having problems - but at 7 months his system couldn`t handle solids. I agree with christinaswar...limit (or stop IMO) solids and just nurse... EditDelete
toni24 (945.3 days ago) i had this problem with my daughter too. pear juice helped and 4ozof water in the morning also helped things move a little smoother. hope this helped and hang in there!!! EditDelete
gavinsmum (945.3 days ago) he doesnt take anything!!! He doesnt even take breast milk from a bottle/cup/straw NOTHING!! I have been trying with him since he was 4 months old. Not even sweet juice will make him take anything other than the boob. I need to force him somehow to take something. I have been feeding him rice but his poops have been like this since it started to turn to solid weither its rice or oatmeal. I think it might be time to go to the doctors. Poor little guy i feel so bad :( EditDelete
butterblocksmom (945.4 days ago) He doesn`t drink anything but breastmilk? How about pumping some and adding an ounce of apple juice? EditDelete
RobinG (945.4 days ago) I would def try pears and keep in mind it is accumulative sometimes ~ it will not always just work after one feed. Feed it daily or other fiber fruits so it helps his system over time and also add some fiber rish foods to your diet that may help since he does get some it it via breast milk :) And watch foods that may be binding too, I wouldnt feed rice, switch to oatmeal if you are feeding it. If it is a issue that is causing him pain give him some karo syrup which has been recommended for years in help. (()) EditDelete
LKLmama (945.4 days ago) If this started after starting solids I would look st what solids could be causing it. I would limit solids now and just nurse until his poop is much softer. EditDelete
nutnut (945.4 days ago) i would try different kids of juices. do you feed him cereal yet? if you do, i would think about adding a small amout of fruit to his cereal and using oatmeal not rice cereal. if he will drink water that would be good too. my dr. said if they wont drink water plain its ok to give them a little sugar in the water to convince them to drink. EditDelete
happyforest (945.4 days ago) try different kinds of juices (apple, apple-prune, pear, white grape) and you dont need to water them down for this, the stronger they are the better they help them poop! thats why usually you WOULD water it down. are you feeding him rice cereal? if so then STOP!! it causes constipation bad for some babies. we switched to oatmeal and it is so much better for us! EditDelete
kickboxerbaby (945.4 days ago) Try something sweeter. Pear Juice can work if watered down. Or if he wont drink it then try pear or peach food. Also I know this sounds weird but my pediatrician told me to put a little vasaline on my daughters bum when she had this problem. EditDelete
ermsmom (945.4 days ago) Maybe a little juice would help a bit. Whenever my daughter gets back up we try a little watered down apple juice and it works magic. Usually we have the opposite problem though. EditDelete
