t555rm (933.7 days ago) I use flouride and my reasoning is the same as pooka. Our tap water doesn`t have flouride in it so the doc suggested my son use a toothpaste that has one.
KR (933.7 days ago) My child is two i use a flouride toothpaste. Hes fine and has a healthy set of teeth =)
pooka (933.7 days ago) I agree so worth the price. My son had 2 root canals, a tooth pulled, a spacer and so many fillings I forget by the time he was 9. He just has bad saliva dentist said not much you can do other then avoid stuff like gummy candies/fruit snacks, raisins etc and brush but he still got them. Since the coating NONE! I`m so happy we got it done.
pooka (933.7 days ago) I`ve never heard that but also haven`t spent much time researching it. I get my kids the coating for their teeth to prevent cavities, not sure how it works but they subject it to UV light. My son has horrible teeth due to lack of enzymes in his saliva so its just the best option. I use the training tooth gel for my youngest and natural teatree toothpaste for older kids myself and husband.
pooka (933.7 days ago) I was told that you should use fluoride toothpaste if you do not feed your child tap water as it contains fluoride. If your using tap water you can use fluoride free. Donno how accurate that is but just what I was told by the dentist.
loribb (933.7 days ago) Flouride is brain damaging. Adults and children in my house also use non-flouride toothpaste and drink non-flouridated water.
courtenay (933.7 days ago) personally, i chose to go with a flouride toothpaste. flouride is good for the teeth and you only use such a small amount on the tooth brush. also, i dont believe in using non flouride toothpaste because kids can swallow it, i believe that this will only make switching to a flouride toothpaste (that your not supposed to swallow) much harder in a year or so if a child is already used to swallowing toothpaste.
