hunnybunnysmama (1376.1 days ago) i gained about 25 lbs, all of it before i was diagnosed with GD. once i was diagnosed i didn`t gain any more weight due to the strict diet i was on. i had to take some gliburide pills instead of insulin and my baby weighed 7lbs 4ozs. i had a c-section because they wanted to induce me due to GD and it didn`t work after 2 days and nights of pitocin and cervidil AND they broke my water only ever dialted to a 3. they induced me about 5 days before my due date.
googie32 (1376.3 days ago) I passed both my sugar test the first time with my last two pregnancies and my first baby was 6lbs 14oz and my second was 9lbs 5oz...now with this pregnancy I did fall the first and went for the three hour and passed...i was so glad!
blondie9504 (1376.4 days ago) Just had my daughter 2 weeks ago and she was only 6 lbs and 11 oz. I was scheduled to be induced a week after my due date and ended up going into labor on my due date but didn`t have her until the next night(27 hours of labor) I had GD but the only time my sugar got above where it was suppose to be was when they gave me the Glucola. I could eat cake and everything else whenever I wanted, all I had to do was check my sugar several times a day to make sure it wasn`t out of control. I delievered without a c section, no big deal except I had some bleeding issues and low blood pressure during and after labor. The baby was good and healthy. I couldn`t have asked for anything more. Good luck, and don`t worry, it will work out!
my hands r full (1376.4 days ago) I had GD with my last baby and he was 7lbs 1oz at birth. I had to get monthly ultrasounds and then weekly towards the end to keep track of his weight. I was scheduled for an induction at 39wks but he decided to come on his own the day before which I was very happy about lol. Oh and he came vaginally and healthy. You can fail your 1 hour and still pass your 3 hour which thats what happend to me with one of my other kiddos. Im 27 wks pregnant again and I once again have the GD. So far according to the ultrasound he is right on track with his weight. Just hoping this time around he comes on his own like his big brother lol. Good luck hun.. either way I think everything will be fine.
TR-Baby2 (1376.5 days ago) HILLARYANDMIKESBABY:: You`ve only gained 17lbs? I`m actually glad that I`m not alone in the weight-gain dept. I struggle, forcing myself to eat sometimes cuz I`m worried that baby will be effected. I`m in my 22nd week and have only gained in the ball-park of maybe 8lbs. I`m guessing it`s due to all the additional stress in my life right now, which also isn`t good, but a bit harder to control than food intake .... Argh! Best of Luck!! Hopefully, you`ll paqss the 3-hr test with flying colors and won`t have to worry with it!!
smarie79 (1376.5 days ago) I had it in my last, she weighted 6 lbs 7 ozs. I had to have a c section regardless so I don`t know about that. DO NOT fast before your test. Just no sugars. My doctor has told me with all my kids not to fast before hand because if there is nothing in your system they can`t tell if you have GD. Some doctors might say different but I thought it made since.
TR-Baby2 (1376.5 days ago) I had GD with my last and my fears were the same as yours. I gained the normal amount of weight and watched what I ate, keeping sugar levels within range the best I could. I had to take pills for it, but never the insulin shot (Thank God!) and I ened up with vaginal delivery, and baby weighed in at a mere 6lbs, 6oz - my smallest to date actually!
I did have an AWFUL labor, and probably should have done a C-sec., but none of us realized there was a problem until the last possible moment - I was in transitional labor (the WORST part - were contractions are coming fast & hard) for a good 2 hours before it was discovered - the nurse noticed I kept going back & forth from 7cm to 9cm, then back again ... OMG! Turns out my son had his hand and arm up by his head, so when he FINALLY came out, it was like he was waving to everyone in the room!! BUT, I did read just recently, that stuff like that is more common in older women, who`ve already had 3+ children - he was my 5th, and I was 37 at the time...
Anyway, just be careful about controlling your sugar levels - breakfast was always the hardest for me - I guess cuz I went from a fasting level (from being asleep) to finally eating. It seems the ONLY thing I could eat that wouldn`t spike my levels, was an omelet, with mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese. No juice or milk, but my coffee didn`t seem to have an effect, Thank God cuz I really would have hated having to give up my morning cup of java!
jq baby (1376.5 days ago) I was told I had GD-- I didn`t believe it and was hard headed. I watched what I ate and kept healthy and I did check my sugar. I did not go to the weekly US I kept up with her movement and exercised. My baby was 9 pounds 14 ounces 22.5 inches long at birth. I had her vaginal no induction -- she is now 3 months old and I weigh 10 pounds less then I did before I was pregnant. It really was all baby weight-- I have not advised anyone to `Not do` as your doctor says but I felt like the GD visits were a bunch of mess and the fact that my OBGYN would ask me what happen or didn`t talk to the other doctor I thought it was for the love of money. I know it really is a situation but in my case I didn`t believe it. Not sure if I would ever do that again if I had another but---- don`t worry! You will be fine! Drink wanter and stay clear of sugar including bread!

hillaryandmikesbaby (1376.5 days ago) i havent gained much weight at all only about 17 pounds and im 31 weeks.. uhhh im dreading this whole fasting thing.. eating is never going to look so good though lol thanks ladies for the comments
mamacakes (1376.5 days ago) my first baby i didnt have GD and he was 10 pounds 2 ounces and i had him vaginally and induced...my second son, i had GD and he was 8 pounds 9 ounces. I was induced with him also. If you do have GD, which we all hope you dont, they just watch the weight of you and the baby more closely...you will also get weekly U/S towards the end of the pregnancy to make sure the baby is doing well and check on the weight.
jessica (1376.5 days ago) i had it with my last 2 pregnancies one was 7lbs 7.8 oz and the other was 7lbs 4.1oz and both were vaginal deliveries
luvbeingamom (1376.5 days ago) First, lots of people fail the 1 hour but pass the 3 hours. Just remember to fast or eat protiens (not sugars) before the 3 hour. With that said, i had GD with both my pregnancies. Both ended in induction. The first was LONG. It was about 29 hours of labor and i was able to have a vaginal delivery, though it came close b/c he had his cord around his neck (nothing to do with GD). I also had an induction with my second pregnancy but my that one was much shorter (8 hours) and much smoother, also ended in a vaginal delivery. My first son was 7lbs 4.5oz born on his due date. My second son was 7lbs 1oz born 3 days before his due date. Good Luck to you. Though on an up note, i gained very little weight during both my pregnancies b/c of the strict diet i had to adhere to!
angie2008 (1376.5 days ago) women with GD are more prone to having bigger babies which then turns into a higher rate of C-section. I personally didn`t have GD but had a 9lbs 2 oz baby and had her vaginally. Good luck on your test and hopefully you don`t have GD.
hillaryandmikesbaby (1376.5 days ago) how much did *your* baby, not you baby lol
