If we had a wide sink we had a tub and the dirty dishes went in their so only half the sink had dirty dishes and we had thee other side for usage in it but we have a sink now with two basins so dont do that know one side for dirty and one side for clean with a strainer ~

im in the US and my mom always kept a tub in the sink. we didnt have a dishwasher, so we put them in this tub filled with soapy water to soak until we washed them at night.

they do that in the US too. Though the only thing i can think of is that the kitchen sink can be the dirty place in the house (lots of germs! blah). Maybe???
