When i bf my first two i didnt set any lenghts. I bf my first till she was 11mths old and my second till he was 7mths. Both weaned themselves off on their own accord. With my third we had problems from the start. She just wouldnt take to it. She wasnt stimulating my milk supply enough. She lost over 16% of her body weight ended up in hospital for 4days. We had no choice but to introduce formula. I was heartbroken as had no probs with the first two and didnt think i would have any with her. Only managed to feed her for 6wks before my milk dried up :(

I always planned on at least a year. Went 2 years with my 1st, 19 months with my 2nd (he was done) and of course I still am with my 7 month old. Plan on a year and a half with her.

I beast fed my daughter for about 15months...it was horrible stopping even tho i thought i would only go to 12months it didnt feel as i thought it would, i thought i would want to stop but i loved knowing that i was giving her the best i could...but slowly w/the eating more and me having to work more my supply went down and i lost it...i even thought about trying to re breast feed at about 17months, cuz i was so crushed... but i would of liked to go til she was 2years old...i live in the valley of california, asthma is almost a guarentee here cuz of our air quality and breast feeding was told to cut chances up to 75%... TONS!!! of awesome reasons to breast feed i was really into the health of my choice...good luck!!

My LO was soo hungry I was advised to stop and give her a Hungrier Baby formula as nothing else would fill her! Most upsetting time ever so I mixed formula and BF milk for a while then my milk supply stopped as itwasnt being stimulated neuf! Im really hoping this baby isnt as hungry as my LO as it will be my last and I want to bf for at least 6mnths if not up to MAX 1yr x

i didnt decide to breastfeed until my baby was a week old. then i had an overwhelming natural urge to breastfeed. luckily he took to it right away, but i was never able to exclusively bf. i didnt have a set goal, i just wanted to do it as long as i could. but i was supplementing the whole time, so after 2 months of bf my milk supply had went down to pretty much nothing. so i stopped. but at least i know what i want to do next time and im going to prepare and be ready!! :)

I didn`t think I would make it past day 2. So far we are at 9 months. I plan on doing at least a year.. longer if my DD wants to

I never knew when i would stop but baby decided when he turned 9 months to stop! I think it was because I was out of town too much!

I breastfed my first baby until she was a year old. The last 4 months of that I was pregnant with my second daughter who is due September 25, 2009. I plan on breastfeeding my second daughter until she is a year old also.

My plan was 10 months and my son is now 10 months so I sure made it to my goal. But I see it going on for at least another 6 months now. Weaning is hard and am ready for it, altho he isn`t LOL. Am trying to night wean now and so far its going ok.

My goal was 1 year but we stopped at 9 months because I was pregnant again and it was uncomfortable plus my daughter started having an aversion to breastfeeding. I don`t know if it was the taste or supply but she we were both happy with her on the bottle. With the second I hope to make it the whole year.

My son had severe reflux so I had to stop and give him soy milk with cereal, it helped tons!
