MelissaJoanne (902.4 days ago) Positive discipline, after age 2
ibaheir2dathrone (902.4 days ago) My oldest was very smart and understood everything at a young age. She walked way before 1, potty trained by 12 months(day and night, I don`t say trained unless both are done), off bottle yada yada yada She could do time out at 1. She had a `Time Out` bench. My son was WAAAY different, lol he didn`t get it till 2-3. (he is a little slower in some areas, he was diagnosed with ADHD.) Sarah is only nine months so we will see how to handle things when they come. :)
avaann (902.6 days ago) almost all children wont understand `discipline` under 18 months. i agree with RobinG with `redirecting` or showing the child why it`s important we NOT do something and instead showing them what he/she can do instead. i even hate the word discipline. maybe if we knew the circumstances we could give you a more helpful answer.
RobinG (902.7 days ago) A 1 year old doesnt understand and cant be reasoned with, not sure why anyone would say less then a year, def after 18ish months but not all babies are the same. Hunter hasnt had it yet at 22 months because he wouldnt understand it yet. I believe in redirecting and attemtping to explain right now and it works.
Pat74 (902.8 days ago) When you know they can understand. That is at dif ages you just have to see. My girl is 3 and i give her a little tap on the but when she is throwing a fit, but i have been taking away her things for about a year now. I think maybe they dont understand the time out thing or she dont and wont stay, so i just take her stuff she seems to care more about her toys and it has been effective. Good luck its trial and error what work for some might not work for others.
