kimmarie (902.7 days ago) I bought my son a gameboy for his 3rd birthday...he was in aww!
nutnut (902.8 days ago) my daughter got one from someone else for christmas one year against my wishes. its pretty much destroyed now. it still works, but its beat up lol. she got hers at 5 as well. she is very good at video games and computers, but i have to limit her or she becomes moody and cranky. you will notice this too im sure. id say let him have it just monitor it and start with the rules right away so he will not give you a hard time over it. the games really range in price, and the day after thanksgiving you can get really good prices at toys r us. i paid 5.00 per game on black friday (of course i had to be up at 3am lol)
also you can buy them used, and you can use the older games in it as well like from the other nintendo before the ds. ive gotten games from 2.00 all the way up to 40.00. my daughter gets games only for special occassions like holidays and birthdays, and from other family members. as long as your monitoring him, i think its fine.
angie2008 (902.8 days ago) My 4 year old nefew has one and i think it`s not a good idea. He plays this al the time and just sits around the house with it. I feel like a 5 year old or any young kid should be playing and being active and not playing video games all the time. Its the same as letting him sit and watch movies or tv all day. Easy fr the parent but not good for child.I think they really play a part in overweight kids in this country.
mommyagain3 (902.8 days ago) My 9 year old girl has one, my 5 year old boy has a game boy and plays on playstation, I hate all of it!! He begs to play it everyday, and when I let him he throws a fit when I tell him to turn it off! Daughter is alot better, not as addicted as him, I would wait til he is older, or not get one at all. I am hoping mine will outgrow the tantrums soon!
jacobb-n-jordans-mommy (902.9 days ago) I think that he should get one and maybe have educational games. : )
krissyRYEcarpenter (902.9 days ago) i just bought 2 of my nieces ones for easter this year. one`s was 5 1/2 and the other was only 3 and they both do amazing with it. we bought them age appropriate games to go with it so they were more understanding. their parents say it does wonders in the waiting rooms, car rides, anything boring for them.
LKLmama (902.9 days ago) My son got one when he was five. It was nice in the car and in waiting rooms.
sheework (902.9 days ago) My nephew got one (4 yr. old) and he broke it after about 6 months, it wasn`t on purpose I think he tried to fit the game or something. He now has a VCAST thing and loves it! They have cool games that are all still learning ones.
armymom (902.9 days ago) My 5 year old nephew has a DS and is better at it then his 8 year old sister. Boys are naturally gifted in the video game department.
soon2be3 (902.9 days ago) My daughter is 6 and wants one too. She also has the Leapster. It was only $30 at walmart last Christmas...so it was way cheaper. I can`t bring myself to spend so much money on a toy. I can`t wait to see what other people think though...because she is slowly breaking me down.
