jas1987 (902.4 days ago) I personally think that they teach kids that it`s all about looks and whats on the outside when i think it`s more important about whats on the inside. I have seen so many episodes on Dr phil with these children and the parents making do it and they are so hard on their kids, and they forget about their other children and they push and push their children... I think it`s so wrong especially for a toddler/child to have to be put through this when they should be outside playing and getting dirty and not having to worry about getting dirt under their nails and making sure they didn`t put a stain on their clothes!
♥ ħhlЄy ▫ ßєär ®♥ (902.5 days ago) I wouldn`t enter them for your entertainment and pleasure only. I`d find a hobby you like yourself that you don`t have to force upon ur kids. If they want to when they are a little older I see no problem with it whatsoever! :)
alijo (902.5 days ago) This is just my opinion, but I find them a bit creepy. They seem like they`re just this big display and objectification of children. To be honest, I`m not too nuts about the adult ones either, but the adults have a choice in the matter.
t555rm (902.5 days ago) I would never put my child thru beauty pageants. I feel it teaches them the wrong message, about being beautiful on the outside. Is that important? Kids need to act like kids, play with toys and with other kids and just enjoy their innocence instead of being pressurized into unhealthy competitions. I feel these pageants are more for the parents` satisfaction ... they are just living their wanna be life thru their kids. It`s pathetic.
nutnut (902.5 days ago) and for the record, im not only talking about the girls in the beauty pageant that are affected by this. those who dont make it, or arent `pretty enough`, those who fall short of what is `required` those children are affected as well. talent contests fine, judging on looks? give me a break. were all beautiful in G-d`s eyes, no one else need judge beauty.
nutnut (902.5 days ago) i jsut answered this on another page. so ill keep it short this time. there is no reason in the world to put makeup, fake nails, fake hair, fake teeth, and somewhat revealing clothes on a child under 16yrs of age, let alone parade them around for adults to look at and judge. its horrid. its exploitation of innocent children. i dont even agree with adult beauty pageants. and we wonder why our little girls end up with low self esteem and eating disorders. sighs*
Dannie (902.6 days ago) Summerisis took the words right out of my mouth!
california-mom (902.6 days ago) Nope, not for my girls unless its more of a talent thing with no makeup and slutty clothes.
heathert (902.6 days ago) I also agree with what everyone else here said. Now I was watching Ms USA the other night and thought wow on the tv show the little girls look like they are made up more and shake it more than these grown women do. I never had a problem with them before I saw the shows but wow spray tan, fake teeth, fake hair, all the money spent on the dresses and one little girl said the bathing suit part was her favorite part. I just dont think I would do it. Why cant they just be natural and be about there talent?
ibaheir2dathrone (902.6 days ago) I am thinking about it BUT I will do the ones that no makeup is allowed. (lol, not as popular) I already entered her in a Beautiful baaby contest (on-line) I plan on doing more. I asked my oldest if she wanted to do something like that. I see no harm if `You` have good sense about it. BTW No fake, tans, teeth, lashes, bare midriffs, booty shaking etc. going on with my girls! :)
ashleyplus2 (902.6 days ago) I`d never put my kids into pageants. It grosses me out to see tiny little girls prancing around in barely any clothes, covered in makeup. Plus I think its not good for their self esteem unless they win, and it teaches them that the only thing that matters is how they look.
pooka (902.6 days ago) I feel like people put their kids in them for the wrong reasons too often. It seems more for some sick living vicariously need the parent has then the little girls actually wanting to be in them. Its fine to think you have a cute baby but all that pressure put on those girls cannot be healthy. Its not cute to me to see them all made up like tiny dolls competing against each other. I think putting children in something that gives them a sense of pride in their ability and who they are not how they look is of much greater benefit.
RobinG (902.6 days ago) I dislike them ~ if they were about kids being natural wihtout make up and stuff and made to look grown up then I`d be all for them but they arent ~ I wouldnt ever go join in on one for a child.
pc (902.6 days ago) I`m not for beauty pagents for kids for a few reasons. I don`t agree with young girls wearing caked on make-up and getting fake or spray tans. I also think that at a young age kids should be envisioned as being beauftiful and not officially judge by judges on their beauty. For a child that never wins a beauty pagent, that must make them sad inside - lowering their self esteem. I must say that the only beauty pagents for kids I`m familiar with is what I see on TV, so I`m making my comment solely from what I`ve seen on reality TV...which may not meen too much!
Aiona (902.6 days ago) My cousin was in a child beauty pageant when she was about 5. My grandma took her because my aunt had to work. When they got there, they found out everyone had bought $500-dresses (or more!!!) for their daughters. My cousin used a $40 dress from Target. They all had make-up on, too! Excessive! My cousin had a little lipstick and blush, but hardly anything really. No eyeshadow or mascara! She also had a short bob, instead of the incredibly made-up hair that all the other contestants seemed to have. Her talent: jazz piano. She won. :) I find it refreshing to know that the judges felt that a naturally beautiful child with a talent that she`d developed from her own effort was worthy of winning a `beauty` pageant. She is currently a very beautiful 22-year-old who is looking into finishing a Masters degree.
honghuzhenni (902.6 days ago) I`m not a fan myself, I don`t like the competition part and how overblown/obsessed some (not all) can get with it. Have you considered modeling at all? You have to beware of scams and all, but if you`re worried about the competition part already, maybe that would help. I considered it before b/c lots of people said she could be a model. I would hate her to be doing it if she didn`t want to, though, and feeling sucked into it myself or something. I don`t know. I think as long as you are real careful to avoid the pitfalls like that, it would be okay. I probably won`t ever do it myself, but to each their own.
ermsmom (902.6 days ago) Personally, I`m not into beauty pageants for kids. It kind of creeps me out to see babies and little girls all dressed up with makeup and fake eyelashes on and things like that. That`s just me so, I wouldn`t enter my child but if you want to do it go for it.
