happyforest (899.1 days ago) i know in indiana its the law you have to wait until ONE YEAR. it does not matter if they have already passed the height and weight requirements or not. i recently found this out bc my LO is only 9 months but already big enough in both weight and height to turn around, however we will remain rear-facing as long as we can after i found out the safety hazzards of being forward
Naaster (899.1 days ago) If he was close to a year I`d say go with weight, but since he`s got a while to go, I`d look for a bigger option. When my first two were born it was only the infant carrier that was rear facing, so I`m sure I`ll be dealing with this one, too! My first son was huge for his age for the first two years, so he often went to the next weight range long before the age.
RobinG (899.2 days ago) Even if he meets weight he needs to be 12 months old too, it isnt just weight. You can put the next stage up car seat backwards too :) Thats what we did :)
bethk (899.3 days ago) I put my LO in a forward facing seat around 8mnths! Her legs were going up the seat so the carseat was too small for her. She was sturdy and decdent weight and my Health Visitor had no problem. I think u know when ur LO is ready to move on and when I look at items I always use the age part as a guide and not set in stone as many things I think they say a year old but sumtimes it seems to early or like the carseat issue seems too late for some. Try it urself and see which one ur LO is most comfortable in and which one u feel is best xx
Holly28 (899.4 days ago) No you shouldn`t..first of all it is against the law to have a child front facing before they are one year old (at least here it is) and secondly it is very dangerous. The longer you can keep your child rear facing the safer they are.
~amy~ (899.4 days ago) julz- yikes! Thanks for that video!
~amy~ (899.4 days ago) lado- is that safe? The manual that came with the graco safeseat (the rearfacing one) said to not put anything under the carseat to avoid injury in an accident. That the carseat is only safe when put in and adjusted with the foot on the bottom of the carseat. I had wanted to put something under it to give him more leg room but didn`t because of the warning.. now I`m confused lol!
~amy~ (899.4 days ago) For some more information.. I have a small two door car and he has to ride in the front seat because his rear facing seat is too big for the back (its the graco safeseat). I worry about him being in the front seat.. the airbag is turned off but I still worry about accidents and him being hit on the passenger side! I bought what I thought was a combination rear facing/front facing/ booster but its only a front facing seat. Its the graco natutlus (sp?) seat. It fits in the back of my car so I though I would put Joel in the forward facing seat earlier than a year because he meets the weight/height requirements. He is just so large for his rear facing seat. His legs are all scrunched up and he looks so uncomfortable in it! Any information pro/con about forward facing before a year or a larger rear facing seat recommendation? Thanks!
