mrsrawley`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll The school year has recently started where I am from and the parents of my prek students seem to be more excited about me expecting than I am. Anyway ,one of my parents mentioned a `push present` that my husband was to get for me to commemorate our daughter`s birth. I have 3 children and I have never heard of it. How about you?

I think this sounds kinda nice. I was given a necklace with a heart on it by my husband during the first time we heard the baby`s heartbeat and was told to wear it until she is born and then it will go onto the front of the baby book. It would be really cool to get a necklace to wear in its place :P

I am all for it! My mom received a beautiful ring from my father when I was born. I highly doubt my husband will even think to bring me anything other than flowers, if even that (he will be a little overwhelmed haha), but before I got pregnant I used to tell him it would be the perfect time to add another diamond band to my wedding ring. I can guarantee you he forgot about that haha!

I think the idea of getting a push present is ridiculous. The usual flowers and congrats cards are fine but getting an actual present for having a baby...especially from your husband, is silly. The BABY is the present for everyone.

I`ve not heard it called a `push present` before. I thought it was just nice of the hubster to buy something for his wife after carrying his baby and giving birth! My first was born 4 days before our 1st wedding anniversary, so I was given a silver bracelet. #2 I got flowers (of course) and #3, which will be our last (planned but not pregnant yet!) I will get my diamond eternity ring.

I have definitely heard of this and so has everyone in my family- I received a very beautiful, antique, diamond ring for my first and can`t wait to see what I will get for my second!

I got a gift for our first, but not for our second. I never heard of it either until he gave me a gift! I was a nice mother/child silver pendant on a silver necklace. It was such a sweet gesture!

Diamonds Baby!!! It is a bit of a tongue in cheek comment, but during my first pregnancy, I got very little compassion and empathy from hubby...he just didn`t get/understand/believe in all the discomforts of pregnancy and when he saw me deliver...he was in shock and awe for weeks afterwards. When it happened, it all of a sudden became VERY real to him and he bought me a lovely gift for having to go through all those changes, challenges and for giving him the most precious gift in the world. It was his way of acknowledging that although giving birth is human nature, he appreciated all the hard work, the discomforts and the healthy living I did to make sure our baby had the best possible starting blocks possible.

I had heard of it, but not called a push gift. And I did not exactly receive one, lol. I had my DD right before mother`s day, so my husband picked me up a hummel of a baby in a craddle. Not really interested in one though, my work already delivers presents to the hospital when anyone`s wife give birth (all my co-workers are male), and so does my husbands.
