My dh used to have dreads. They don`t wash them very often, but when they do they wash them as is, to take out real dreads they must be cut off.

Thanx for the answers! Wow how can one not wash their hair?! Whoopie Goldberg never does either and watching her on the `View` today was what got me wondering actually. Love her btw.

my friend said theres alot of products she uses on her hair. she said she hated having dreds bc they ruined her hair, but even when she got her braid and extensions she said she didnt wash her hair. she said there`s a dry shampoo to use and some other products so it doesnt dry out too bad.

there are special shampoos to use for dreads...i have had them before. some people have `all natural` dreads, they dont use any wax on them or anything else, then there are people who use dread products (there are a ton of them)

Lol, not a stupid question at all. Actually there are different ways of making dreds. Some people shapoo their hair and some don`t. You can google it and it will tell you all about it.

yeh dreadlocks r matted hair, it doesnt get washed :-)

actually to naturally get your hair into dreads yuor not supposed to wash it and once you have it in dreads you wash over the dreads and usually when you want them out you have to have them cut out.
