Pregnancy-poll poll Im having soooo many Braxton Hicks - Some are feeling really uncomfortable/painfull. So my Qu is how many is classed as normal in 1 day!? I seem to be having them all day? Is there a limit on when you should consult a Dr about them or is there no limit and just unlucky lol. I had them last time round but it was only a handfull in a day if that! So its ouch nowww

BH`s aren`t that big of a deal. I had them 3 minutes apart for 3 hours and I was sent home. There is a huge difference between BH contractions and real labor contractions. I`m told we will know the difference- and if you call the hospital talking about BH`s...they will usually tell you that it`s completely normal. Anywhere from 32 weeks on, you can have them all day. I`m 39 weeks now, but have been in `early labor` for 3 weeks. If you`re really concerned, call the nurse, but I can almost bet they`ll tell you it`s nothing abnormal unless you are cramping, bleeding, or have fluids running.

I called the doc the other day becuz of BH`s. I told them i was having them like crazy but thier was no pattern to them. The nurses had me wait till the next day and come in and not go to work that day. when i told the doc that i had called and everything he says ` well BH are normal` o i was mad cuz i had to miss work and got a day counted against me. They told me if i had them closer then 5 minutes apart and they develope a pattern to go to L&D, but as far as having a lot pretty much just have to deal with it.

My nurse told me that dehydration can bring on too many braxton hicks, and told me to lie down and drink water when they start lasting too long. I`m only 27 weeks though, I`m not sure what`s normal for 33 weeks. I`d talk to the Dr about it...

My sister had them ALL DAY LONG for almost three weeks. She was 2 cm dilated and dr kept telling her to just deal!

if you are having more than 6 in an hour then you need to go to the hospital

I was told if they were spaced regularly and didn`t have periods where it stopped. So if it comes and goes, even it it seems like a lot, it doesn`t mean anything. However, if you`ll feel better to call the doctor then do it :)

I had horrible BH that would last for hours. Feel free to call your OB if you`re concerned but mine always told me to come to the hospital if they became unbearably painful and there wasn`t a `magic` number of so many per hour. Just to come in if they were unbearable. They always went away after a few hours for me. You can always try drinking more water, changing positions if you`re laying down and try walking around :)

yup more then 6 an hour is when you have to call. but it really depends on how far along you are. If your due already then you can just wait it out at home. If its preterm then the sooner the better.

I would never hesitate to call your doctor but they`ll probably tell you to lay down and drink a ton of water and see if they stop
