Str8 As (883.8 days ago) When you breastfeed, you have to be careful with some foods such as onions, garlic and brocolli. They can cause the baby gas. As Pooka suggested, massaging does wonders. I would stroke my babies` stomach in a downward position and they were able to pass gas without the fussiness. They also have gas drops you can give to help relieve too. Hope everything works out for you both!
meecob (883.8 days ago) Definitely watch what you are eating. When I ate eggs or brocolli, I noticed babe would cry and have bad gas. But once I cut them out, she was fine. I have since gradually incorporated those things back into my diet and all is well, I think their little tummies are too sensitive to some foods. Good luck & keep at it!
chevychic96 (883.8 days ago) My son acted like that and it ended up being acid reflux. Just an idea, once he went on medicine he was a different baby.
pooka (883.9 days ago) you could also try some belly massages. Babies aren`t born will the ability to fart and poop easily they have to develop their muscles. Massage will help. Maybe burping a bit longer. I would definitely cut out gasey foods, caffeine foods/drinks and if that doesn`t work try cutting out dairy for a bit. His tummy will settle soon he is still very new I wouldn`t give up on breast feeding yet!
lovemyfamily (883.9 days ago) A breastfed newborn alwayss has gross watery stools. So I wouldn`t be too concerned there, unless your doctor was as well. However it could very much be caused by your diet, my friends and I have found that anything spicy, or greasy, any pop, chocolate etc...will cause the baby to have an upset stomach. As they get older it is less irritable usually...but for right now they have such a small belly so try a few days of gentle healthy foods and see if it improves...hope everything works out well for you.
