angie2008`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll My daughter is 10 months and is 21lbs 6 oz. she is still in her infant carseat. The weight limits on the seat is 22lbs. I have one convertable seat to go in my car that can be rear facing until she is 30lbs. We also have another carseat that can only go forward and starts at 20 lbs. I am going to put the convertable seat in my car, should i let her stay in her infant carseat in dh`s car or just have her switch to forward facing. The laws here is she has to be rear facing until a year and 20 lbs. I don`t want to jeopardize her safety either way. Any suggestions

Leave her in the infant seat in dh car until she is a year
Use the forward facing carseat in dh car eventhough she is under 1 year old.
Buy a second convertible seat for dh car so she can stay backwards and within the weight limits.

Thanks ladies, that is the way I was leaning because I really want her to be safe.

I would buy another rear facing. The Eddie Bauer Elite the weight limit is 34 or 36 can`t remember but its one of the highest. Well worth your month since it goes front facing and then to a booster too. It is SO much safer for them!!! My son is 17 months and still rear facing.. his feet touch the seat but he doesn`t sit with them poker straight he just sits kinda cross legged and doesn`t look uncomfy at all. So don`t listen to all the people who say oh its uncomfortable for them.. it`s really not.

Oh and two of your three options are illegal. She can not stay in a carseat she is too big for (after 22 pounds) and can not ride forward facing before a year. I am shocked people as choosing those two options!

Please do not put her in a forward facing seat this early!

do to all the videos i have seen where people get in car accidents with babies in front facing carseats even after the recommened time limit have all been seriously hurt. My son will stay in a rear facing carseat til he is almost 2 yrs old.

Rear face as LONG as possible ...Look on you tube and see the videos of crashes....It is not worth switching yet

keep her rear facing as long as possible!! around 35 lbs. u will give ur child a 70%!!!!! chance of surviving an accident if u keep her rear facing vs forward facing...all u would have to tell me is there is a 1% chance and i would keep her rear. but 70%!!! should b a no-brainer.

  1. Is it normal for toddlers to leave off 1/2 of words?
  2. Silly poll, just checking the odds.. for parents of 3+kids, did you have:
  3. Career conundrum... Opinions valued (particularly from teachers - but I would value advice from anyone). Details inside.
  4. At what age do you think it`s appropriate to drop your child off at a sporting training (not a school sport, a sports club such as soccer, footy, tennis, netball club etc), and come at the end to pick them up?
  5. If you saw a car up your next-door neighbour`s drive (evening), would you make a social visit (and didn`t know them very well)?

  7. Bookworms - is anyone reading the new Khaled Hosseini book `And the Mountains Echoed`? I pre-ordered it on kindle which should have arrived today (I haven`t checked yet) but was wondering if anyone would be interested in a group read?
  8. HELP - my 3 year old daughter is developing a phobia to fluff! I feel responsible, I have a ridiculous phobia of bees and wasps - to the point it hinders my ability to enjoy playing out in the garden during the summer, it`s detrimental. My kids have picked up on this and are sh*t scared of bees and wasps, but with my daughter it was soon spiders, then ants and now, tiny black bits of fluff - which she finds all over; on her pillow etc. It`s genuine terror in her face as she screams she can see them moving and they`re `going to get her` or `bite her`. What do I do? She`s old enough to be reasoned with that they don`t move and we pick most of them off before bedtime, but she wakes in the night and starts crying that `The Fluff`s coming...!!` How can I help her? Do you think this is just a phase or do you think it`s worth seeking some sort of external, professional help to nip this in the bud? I HATE the thought of passing on my phobias and anxieties to my children - it`s no way to live to be a constant worrier about things beyond your control and I;ve suffered with anxiety and panick attacks for nearing 6 years now and can`t ever remember just feeling `normal` and `well` - I can`t remember my life before my first panick attack. This is NOT what I want for my children...
  9. On Facebook I saw one of those like pictures, a mom who sent her child to school for days wearing out of style `ugly` clothes because she was bullying another girl about her clothes. Mom`s yourselves, what do you think of this type of punishment?
  10. Can anyone relate? My 4 year old is making all sorts of amazing connections which is great that he`s thinking about the world, but some of his thoughts are quite deep. He`s a natural born worrier (gets that from me!) and I try to protect him from as much as I can but there`s things that can`t be avoided. Ie, ever since Easter, he`s been plagued with fear about getting holes in him like Jesus (he learnt it at Kindy). Well just this evening he came out with `Why do you and Margo (Grandma) have holes in your ears like Jesus? Did you get your ears nailed to a cross?` He`s also obsessed with the fear of death.
