jekajoy (878.1 days ago) A ton of latch issues come from the introduction of pacifiers or bottle nipples before a baby learns to latch to the breast. Not all latch problems are b/c of this, but LOTS are. If a baby latches to you the way they suck on these things, your nipples will hurt like none other and blister! Being early can have alot to do with latch but more importantly they struggle to suck, swallow, and breathe in a pattern which they need for successful nursing. EditDelete
luvbeingamom (878.2 days ago) With my first son, i had serious problems with latching. Even with a nipple shield we had issues. B/c of these issues my milk dried up. I tried pumping for a while but that wasn`t the right/enough stimulation to keep my milk. My second son didn`t have the same issues, latched well and stayed bf only until almost 8 months and bf until 15months (when he weened himself). I think that was of course one of my issues, but not all of them. Being a 1st time mom, i was nervous and had no idea what i was doing. Though i tried to get help, they weren`t helpful, and so it was difficult, i was stressed, he kept screaming. It was just bad. I am still sad i had to switch to formula. EditDelete
