LKLmama (874.7 days ago) I would either try pumping for him or just let him eat regular food and water while you are at work. He will just nurse extra when you are home. You said you start in a few weeks? He will be 10 months then? I wouldnt even bother with trying to get him to take formula at that age.
LKLmama (874.7 days ago) Ohh I wouldnt give him formula... no wonder he wont drink it!
ms m (874.8 days ago) Thank you for your replies... my 9 month old will `sip` water from a sippy cup but if I try and put formula in it will clamp his mouth shut as soon as he has worked out what it is.
I will leave for work at 7:30 and get home at 4pm. I don`t know if I am strong enough to just stop Bfeeding and to be honest, he eats so much I don`t think he will give in to the bottle even then??
courtenay (875.1 days ago) we just use a cup for daytime when she is away from me and nurse in the mornings, afternoon and at night and sometimes still randomly through the night. better to not have to get rid of the bottle anyways imo
Peachy09 (Ashlyn) (875.1 days ago) My DS wasn`t that old 3 months here - but sippy cups or a regular cup might be the easiest & definitely worth trying! I didn`t really try to give him a bottle before we started daycare at 3 months (just didn`t know I should have been trying at the time) & the first day he didn`t eat for a few hours but did get hungry & happily went from breast to bottle after that with no problems (BF at home, bottle at daycare). I`m thinking it was 4-5 hrs he went till he gave in, & I guess fortunately for me I didn`t have to actually wait it out-that would be really difficult!!! Unfortunately unless you can get him on the cup/sippy cup I think the Dr is right.
STCT (875.2 days ago) My Dr said the same thing and I had the hardest time letting it happen. So I thought it was the bottles I was using so I was buying a few types of bottles witch wasn`t working. So I did want the Dr said. When returning to work I would nurse at night and hubby would give the bottle in the morning. The first few days at the sitter she had a hard time taking the bottle, but she then learned that`s all she could have. After that she was fine.
Str8 As (875.2 days ago) I had to give them all cups; maybe that is what you are going to have to do too.
LKLmama (875.2 days ago) How long will you be at work each day? Will your baby drink out of a cup?
