At 9 weeks I went in for a scan because I`d had some bleeding. They found a sac but nothing else. No pole, no heartbeat. They told me that baby had either stopped developing earlier on, or that my dates were wrong and it was just too soon to see anything. I went back a week later for another scan, and there she was, perfectly healthy baby. The machine they used just wasn`t strong enough! I had an internal scan that day when they found her. I`m now 37 weeks along and looking forward to meeting my lil girl.

This happened to me, but I did miscarry. It was called a blighted ovum. I don`t think they can miss a baby in the sac, sorry hun. I went for an ultra sound at 6 weeks and saw the `yolk` and again at 12 weeks where the sac was empty. It likely stopped growing around 7 weeks, but the sac kept growing giving you all the pregnancy syptoms. It is a tough thing to go through.

I wonder if you are early on in pregnancy and that`s why they did not detect a fetal pole and heartbeat? I hope everything is ok

Dang, I posted a comment but it didn`t go through for some reason...hmmmmmm. Anyways, here is a link to a great site with lots of women going through the same thing. It was a tremendous source of support for me during both of my m/c`s. http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com/mycommunity/
