babyx2 (868.7 days ago) Thanks for the responses ladies- very helpful info.
I have a babysitter come to my home where my child is the only infant at this time, but I am soon adding another baby next Spring!
mdbabyno1 (869.1 days ago) Well, there is a big difference between a daycare(you take your child to their home with other children) and a babysitter(someone that comes to your home to watch only your children). Babysitters here cost anywhere from $10-$15/hour for one child and goes up to about $20 depending on how many children you have. It is expensive but that is what comes with having a personal babysitter and not a daycare. I have been a nanny for 6 years and make $12/hour if my daughter accompanies me and $15/hour if I go by myself. We are in Southern California so things are expensive.
RobinG (869.1 days ago) Where I am they are almost the same ~ again it really depends on where you live ~ cost of living is very different, income/housing costs lower where I live compared to some towns/cities ~
Angel-baby (869.1 days ago) WOW!! Some of you pay $5-8 an hour for sitters?? When I worked, I paid $3.00 for 2 kids... If I paid $5-8 an hour, it wouldn`t be worth it for me to work especially if it was minimum wage.. BUT I do live in a small town where as some of you may live in bigger towns...
RobinG (869.1 days ago) Where I live it is about $3.50-$5 an hour or 25-30 per day if full day for one child. Sometimes it is discounted for a 2nd child. Really depends on where you live. I am daycare provider and I am average but caps at 30 per day ~ I charge 3.75 per hour per child. I offer a sibling discount as well ($3 off per day.) and a prepay discount (VERY popular with my moms and dads) PrePay for 2 weeks at one time, take of 15% pay for the month take off 20%.
