LOL! My SO grew up on things ive never eaten too, and vice versa. we grew up with pasta, italian foods, real mashed taters, and yes hamburgers, hotdogs, mac cheese too but SO grew up on tex/mex type stuff, grilling all year, and of all things instant mashed potatoes, instant rice, and lots of caserole type dishes. it added a varity to my cooking ill admit but the one thing i cant really get over is instant mashed potatoes. SO will not eat anything but instant bc `there`s lumps` in real mashed potatos LOL now theres not really any lumps in my mashed potatoes there might be one or two small ones but its not a huge deal lol most of the time theyre really creamy and good. me and my daughter dont care for the instant ones so i end up having to make both lol. i prefer things to be home made, but im up for short cuts anytime. but certain things like mashed potatoes are just not the same from a box, same with rice, while instant rice is fine for some things, i just cannot eat it with stir fry or other things. it just doesnt have that same yummy stickiness that rice should have at times. i like food to taste like i put effort into it. i love cooking. i dont like to put out a meal that just isnt up to par, and ive become really picky about things over the years. now if i had to work, and take care of the kids and the house, im going to take short cuts. ive taken short cuts before. i just rather have put the effort into certain staples in our house bc to me anything else just doesnt compare. but its personal taste, like i said SO doesnt like real mashed taters, or non instant rice. although SO never liked italian food either until SO had mine. SO thought spagetti sauce came from a can LOL. SO knows better now heh! =))) all this food talk today is making me hungry.

I ask this because I was raised in a country setting where some sort of potatoes were with every meal. When my SO and I moved in together I about died because the only food in his house was mac and cheese and hot dogs lol. When he went to the store I told him to get potatoes so we could have mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner and he brought back instant. I`ve never ate anything out of a box before and maybe I didn`t tweak them right, but they tasted like the damn box they came in! Ever since, I`ve done the grocery shopping and bought stuff to make from scratch and now that he`s ate my cooking he wont eat anything or anybody elses lol.
