i bought one last christmas for my son, and he loves it. my son is now 3 and still plays with it. hes always `cooking` me something to eat. he can tell me what all his play foods are too.

Yes, that`s why all professional chefs are women. (joking, of course!) My three nephews love playing with kitchen stuff.

I know this a little different, but when my brother was younger he wanted an Easy Bake Oven. Now he is in culinary school! I think the thought is that girls should play with it only because that is `our place` and boys play with trucks and stuff because that is what boys do. Well times are changing and more males are in the kitchen and many men are better chefs than women I think! So to answer the question, no it is for either gender :-)

LOL, great poll..made me laugh this morning. Hasn`t your husband ever heard of Hells Kitchen? I challenge him to tell Chef Ramsey that cooking is for girls only :) Also, if you think about it, most of the cooking shows on now a days are male chefs...oh and my husband is a WAYYYYY better cook than me! :)

nutnut (865.7 days ago)
nooo the boys like them too! think of all the great male chefs out there in the world! =)) my daughter has one, she plays with it sometimes but mostly she uses it to house a fortress for her pokemon, and other action figures like spiderman lol, or she uses it as a garage for her hotwheel cars lol!> while her little friend that is a boy will play resuraunt with it for hours. he cooks and she tells him what she wants to order and he brings it lol. its really cute actually. i encourage pretend play with the children regardless of gender. now would i buy one for my son? only if he really wanted one. my little boy cousin had toy vaccuums bc he loved to vaccuum and clean when he was little. he`s still very neat one of his better qualities actually lol

lol summerisis.. your right! I wasn`t even planning on buying one for my son but I `mentioned` it when my DH and I were in the store together picking out my son`s birthday gifts and he said `Absolutely not` which made me mad... which led to this poll. lol. If I find a used one for a good deal on craigslist I might go for it but I don`t think I`d spend a ton of money on a new one.. because like someone already mentioned.. it probably wouldn`t hold a boys attention as long as a girls. I still think he`d enjoy it just not for long periods of time. Thanks for the comments ladies! Now I can prove my husband wrong on this topic (yet again, lol)

I got my older boys one but I found they played for it for a while and the novelty wore of. Its been my experience boys are more into building climbing pushing riding etc. They aren`t as into playing imagination type games like house. I mean I am sure some are but doesn`t seem as much as girls.

I tthink boys would play with them But think that it won`t hold their attention as long as it would a girl. My dd had one and my son didn`t pay it any attention.

If you believe that only women should cook and that man arent allowed in the kitchen then yes but if you are like me and feel marriage is 50/50 and men are cooks too and role playing is important then kitchens are perfect for a boy :) My boys and nephews ALL had kitchens and some of the best famous cooks are men! :) Hunter is getting one for Christmas ~ He plays with it at play gorup and it was always the most fav toy to play with around my nephews and it most def was used ALOT by the boys who had them :)

I don`t think. Austin had one when he was little. I went with one that was `boyish` colors - green and cream. He loved it for a little while.

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
