Heather12`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll My daughter has had a diaper rash for over a month now. The dr has prescribed an ointment. It made it better but didnt take it away completly. I have tried so many things. Nothing ever takes it completely away. Any suggestions on what to do? Could she be having an allergy to her milk. She was breastfeed till she was 12 months old.

Okay girl, I know exactly where you are. My daughter is now 17 months, I BF her but when I introduced `solids` to her at about 5 months, she had this horrible diaper rash that would bleed at times. I tried every brand of diaper including cloth and the chloirne free ones, ointment, wipes, and prescription creme that the peditricion would give me. We tried letting her bottom get air time but nothing worked. At one time the doctors had me putting 5 different cremes on at every diaper change. It was just silly that they thought the last three cremes were even touching her skin. Plus the cremes burned the open bleeding sores. I kept asking them about the possibility of food allergies and they completely dismissed it. My son also has food allergies and they knew it and still dismissed the idea. She also got really bad eczema around her mouth, which they blamed on her pacifer. Finally fed up, I stopped listening to our doctors and followed my gut instinct. By eliminating foods from her diet, I discovered on my own that tomato caused the eczema around her mouth as well as a bleeding rash and pea`s and green beans caused a bleeding rash. However it did not ever completly clear up and still would bleed from time to time. Finally I took her to an allergist and had her tested. Turns out she has a long list of food allergies, including rice which explained her starting the rash when we started baby rice cereal. I have discovered that rice is in almost every baby food snack and cookie. But the majority of her allergic reactions cause a bleeding diaper rash. A few others give a bleeding rash along with other things such as a head to toe rash or rashes on other body parts. But since i have eliminated the problem foods her bottom has been fine. If your daughter does have a food allergy especially to milk then you will have to be very careful about reading food labels. I have many food allergies and dairy is one of mine. it can be avoided but you will have to read EVERYTHING. Anyway, if you think it is dairy then why not eliminate it from her diet for two weeks. If her rash clears up then I`d say you found your culprit. If not I`d highly recommend having her allergy tested. And your daughter`s doctor may not be any help or support you at all. Ours told me that I shouldn`t bother because if it was a food allergy she was likely to out gorw it anyways. But she had a rash from 5 months until I finally had her allergy tested at first at 13 months and then we didn`t find it all so we had to go back for a second round at 15 months. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I can give you my email address too if you want. It was such a relief after finding out the list of foods to avoid. A great burden was suddenly gone. I only wish I would have had her tested sooner. Oh besides the food allergies she is sensitive to diapers and wipes and rash ointments. I have found she tolerates diapers: Luvs, and the chlorine free brands (Seventh Generation and Earths Best). The only wipes we can use are the pampers sensitive, NOT the huggies sensitive apparently there is a difference. When i open a new package of wipes, i take the wipes and wash them out in the sink. You`d be surprised at how many soap bubbles come out. She also didn`t do well with desitin original or creamy. I use something called Triple Paste. It costs A LOT more, but she can tollerate it. however it doesn`t clear things up if she eats something on her list. But I think it may at least protect it from rubbing on the inside of the diaper. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Don`t hesitate to send me a note.

my sister in law had the same prob w/ her lil girl..we all tried to think of diff ways to make it go away and it would get better but come right back. finally the dr said it was a form of staff infection and gave her a cream that did finally make it go completly away. but ive heard from other friends for just common diaper rash to burn flour in a pan til it turn a golden brown color and wipe that on her rash just like u would baby powder..couldnt hurt to try it. hope she finds relief. :)

My grandma lives by this product and it worked awesome for me with rashes among other things like burns, scrapes, bites.. It is from Watkins and is called Petro-Carbo Salve. It smells kinda funky and is kind of like a petrolium jelly but thicker. They also have a vapor run which works sooo well I stopped having to buy vicks vapo rub form the store.

Give her a bath and let her air dry. Give her bottom `air time` This worked for me. Hope it clears soon!

My daughter used to get these frequently and realized it was more than a rash. She had a yeast infection. I forgot the name of what they gave me, but it cleared it up overnight.

yes I have tried both blue and purple. I have also tried butt cream, crisco, neosporin, baby powder, gold bond, and a prescription from the dr. I have tried letting her run around with no diaper and tried changing the diaper more often.

  1. I`m interesed in getting an innotab for my kids. Are the extra downloads pricey? How is the product as a whole?
  2. Thought they were fixing the problem with the profiles? Mine is now starting to disappear and most of my friends profiles are gone. Is it getting fixed or what because its more than a joke at the moment. Maybe its the ads causing the problems because its the only thing that seems to stay when the profiles disappear.
  3. If you had a `favourable` cervix (started to dilate and soft) did a membrane sweep work for you?
  4. Should I buy my sister a Belly Bandit for her shower? She said that is what she wanted when I asked. I just have a hard time spending that much money on some thing she might niot like. Especially because it was me who put the dumb :) idea in her head!! I bought and used one for three out of my four and loved it...but is it for everyone? Or should I throw down the money to something more practical?

  6. Just finished making a birthday cake for the first time from our baby girl for her daddys bday tomorrow :o)
  7. Extension of last Valentine question..I should clarify that we are having V-day dinner tomorrow alone but still just the fact that he bought our gifts at the same time at the same place bugs the s-it out of me. He knows I like plants and I`m pretty sure he went to a nice nursey and got me one but the fact is he told me he got his mom a small little plant. OMG I fee like I total b-tch but I feel like telling him I know what he probably got me and I do not want anything that you are giving your mom!! But then he wopuld know I snooped and saw where he went on our checking account.
  8. O.k I know this is a off the wall question..Is it weird and selfish of me to be annoyed that my husband has is giving his mom a Vanetine gift and card tonight when she comes over and wants to give me mine too today? I know I`m probably being sensitive and I feel bad that I made the comment `if you give me the same thing as your mom I`m gonna cry`. He said I should`nt ruin the surprise and I told him I was sorry but I just wanted our Valentines seperate because everything includes his family and it`s a day for lovers. Am I....

  10. I`m getting quite annoyed...I`ve been buying nail polish lately and it seems every one I buy is crap. They take forever to dry and look just sloppy by the time they are dried. Is there something specific to look for when buying nail polish?? am I missing something?? LOL What are your favorite `fast drying` brands?? Thanks in advance
