mikey and cjs mommy (855.7 days ago) when my son turned one we started giving him milk only before nap times during the day and then in the evenings when it was becoming wind down time. During the day we would just give him water or juice. It helped also because we got 2 seperate sippy cups....once was strictly for milk, and the other was for all other liquids i.e water, juice...ect. So he knew which one he was getting, and became accustomed to only getting his milk at nap times and evenings.
nutnut (855.8 days ago) ask about 2% milk. or give him some water here and there. my daughter didnt really like milk. so i gave her low fat yogurts, cheeses, etc. even today she`s more of a water drinker than anythng else. shes not over weight or underweight. check with your pediatrican.
Lou-Li-Ro (856 days ago) Definitely water throughout the day -- that`s all we give our toddlers, and we give them a bottle each morning and night, of seven ounces organic milk. (so all in all they only get 14 ounces each of milk a day. )
t555rm (856.2 days ago) Mine (11.5 months) drinks water from his sippy with every meal and snack and through out the day whenever he wants to. I wash n refill it as the day goes. I breast feed him 3 times a days so haven`t started to give him milk in a sippy yet.
daydays mom (856.3 days ago) hey they doc wanted me to switch to 2% milk when daisy was 15 months. shes was geting a lil chunky but now shes on 2% and shes fine. im bout to get her down to 1%.
bellajenna (856.3 days ago) we have a water cooler and my kids love getting their own water anytime they want i really recommend it. or get a little one for the refrigerator. you lo is kinda big tall 2. :) i am sure whatever you do is fine tho. somehow its usually chubby kids are small adults and other way around lol funny isnt it.
abbyquiet (856.3 days ago) it took a while for my son to get accustomed to his sippy cup. so for a while he didn`t get much water at all, but nowadays, he drinks water all day. he`s 21 months i think, or maybe 22 months. and he gets milk in his sippy cup with breakfast and dinner, other than that i keep his cup stocked with water. he drinks it, i think it`s more out of habit though, sometimes if it`s empty he`ll bring it to me to refill it and carries it around with him all day. but like i said, it`s a gradual thing, he eventually started drinking more and more.
jekajoy (856.3 days ago) Talk to your pediatrician, sometimes they will suggest going to 2% if the baby is on the heavier side instead of whole milk. They need the milk fat for brain development. My DD pediatrician told us to give a sippy cup of milk at each meal. I`m not sure how many oz she gets but it`s between 18-24 but she only weighs 21 lbs at 14 months. I definitely dont think they should be drinking more water than milk this early though.
