Every once in awhile I`ll allow my DD (she`s 9) to have a diet 7-up or Sprite...no caffeine and no sugar.

Well, they don`t just drink sodas, but about once a month I`ll give them a cup. Not my baby of course, but the 8yo, 6yo, 4yo. I don`t see it harmful as long as its kept as a treat. Everything in moderation....at least for them, lol! I drink pop almost everyday (yeah I know, I`m bad!) but I`ve been trying to cut back. I`m a Pepsi freak, its like my morning cup of joe.

if we are out at a restaurant i drink lime and soda my toddle hates it but wants to try it as mummy likes it but its basically fizzy water with lime, otherwise he just has water or milk

no soda for my daughter yet. she just turned two and I`ll avoid it for as long as possible... I used to drink a lot of diet coke before i got pregnant but quit due to aspertame and caffeine and i never picked up the habit again so its never in the house. when she is older and figures out what it is I might let her have a bit (caffeine free) here and there but it will be rare. I don`t mind her having stuff like that like once a week or so. as of now she has cookies/candies/etc about once a week.

It is rare in our house but if I do it is maybe once or twice every couple months. I see no purpose for it ~ there are many other beverages that taste great and can even be thought of as a junk food drink but healthier :)

i let my oldest three have it at party but i dont buy it in for them, my toddler has nevr had it and she will be treated the same and only allowed when its special occassion.

i no way specially give them but if they see me drinking which i normally dont bring to the table because then they want ofcourse....if they do see then i just pour a tiny bit into thr bottle with lots of water so they think thr drinking it but really its water.lol!i mostly dont brink to t table, but it gets harder if your at someone elses place or a party if thr isnt any water but most people do otherwise i prefer a more natural drink to give them like orange juice..........

i dont have that problem bc my daughter hates the way soda feels in her mouth. she`s never liked it. she will basically only drink milk or orange juice, or water, occassionally chocolate milk or apple juice. she prefers water and i dont argue. we were raised on sodas and my teeth are so bad from it. im really glad my daughter doesnt like it, as it avoids fights unlike many of my friends who have to fight with their kids when they say no soda.

I let my older kids have it as a treat (15/11 y/o) but not with caffeine. Just clear pop, mnt dew (no caffeine in it in Canada) or rootbeer. My toddler has never had pop.

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
