shocked-over-3 (845.2 days ago) Yeah,I`m just a bit nervous cause at my 6 week pp check up the pap was more painful than I care for,lol and I`ve had 3 babies sans pain meds!! My body is taking longer to get back where it was `down there`.
Thanks everyone for your advice:)
northgakim (845.3 days ago) I have HPV and have not only had several colpos and biopsies, but this January I had a LEEP procedure done. I have one of the top OBGYN`s in Atlanta so here is the scoop. You have very little feeling in your cervix. So you are not put to sleep. From your point of view, its like a Pap. When the doctor needs to take a sample you may be asked to make a cough noise so he can get a better sample. There is a slight discomfort, just as in a pap. You may even have a little bit of cramping after- not bad! They will send your biopsy off to be tested and then you will get your results. I had precancerous cells that had to be removed as they were not clearing up on their so I had to go in for outpatient surgery to get a LEEP done. This you are knocked out for. The LEEP was not painful either and I had no problems after. The only thing you may experience with either of these is a slight discharge or smell. Not a big deal. This is a very common experience so try not to worry!! Best advice... stay calm!!
MaddoxAndAverysMama (845.5 days ago) if you`re getting a colpo when you`re pregnant chances are they wont do a biopsy with it... they wait until your 6weeks PP to do a biopsy, and thats the only thing that hurts... it wont be any more uncomfortable than a pap smear... I hate that people are telling you its so painful..
charlihadley (845.6 days ago) i just remeber the smsll of the vinegar.....and it hurt me a bit....but i ust say b still so they canget what they need, i kept moving, so my dr wasnt getting big enough pieces :( ..had to keep redoing it lol...but take tylenol before and you will be fine :)!!!....
MaddoxAndAverysMama (845.6 days ago) haha... monkeymama and love.nora are not on the same page... my experience with a COLPO is the same as hollysnum2... the worst part of it is that you end up smelling like salad dressing for a little while... but its just a glorified pap smear... the wierdest thing was when they bring the big binocular looking microscope into the room, its a bit imposing that they are magnifying what is already a bit uncomfortable... the spray is cold but they will just look around... I ended up having to have 3 biopsies.. of which the one the doctor was warning me `this one might sting` didn`t hurt a bit, barely felt it and the ones she said would be nothing stung a bit... but it was more like just getting a quick shot, just a bit unnerving that you cant see whats going and its your vagina... haha... but don`t worry about the colpo, it wont hurt, and biopsies(if you have to have them) aren`t as scary as they sound! NOW, don`t listen when people are telling you all this crazy stuff about a COLONOSCOPY! Its nothing like that! haha
love.nora (845.6 days ago) My grnadpa had one and when he was done he asked my grandmother if he was going in to have it yet lols. You have to go like 2 days before start to flush out your gut and stuff and you cant eat anything so that part must be the worst from what I herd.
hollysnum2 (845.6 days ago) I have had several colposcopy`s. That dont hurt, usually all that happens is that you are on the table and they swab your cervix with vinegar. The vinegar makes the cells bloat so they arent see through. Then they roll a huge microscope called a colposcope over and view your cervix. Abnormal cells appear white. The whiter the cells the more servere the abnormality is. It freaked me out that my hoohah was all magnatized! lol And monkeymamma I think you are thinking of a colonoscopy! :)
monkeymamma (845.6 days ago) My mom just had one last year. She said the procedure doesn`t hurt because you`re not awake for it. The worst part is the stuff you have to drink before hand that clears your system out. Once you get through that, the rest isn`t so bad.
